Crawford vs. Porter will be shown on ESPN+ PPV. This should be an exciting match for as long as it lasts.

We don’t know what Porter, 33, has left in the tank at this point in his career, though, because he hasn’t faced a high-caliber opponent in two years since his loss to Errol Spence Jr. in September 2019.

Porter needs a great performance

In Porter’s fight before that in March 2019, he looked even worse in winning a controversial 12 round split decision over Yordenis Ugas.

Some boxing fans believe Ugas did a better job against Porter than Spence did but was jobbed by two judges who worked the fight.

The reality is that Porter got the worst of it in his last two fights against quality opposition in Ugas and Spence, and now he’s facing the fighter that most boxing fans believe is the #1 welterweight on the planet in Crawford.

If Porter looks terrible in losing to Crawford, it could be career over with for ‘Showtime’ Shawn. He’s not fighting often anymore, and he’s looked awful in his most challenging fights.

Porter has become another Danny Garcia or Adrien Broner in that he loses when he faces quality opposition at 147.

Other weigh-in results for Saturday:

Esquiva Falcao 158.8 vs. Patrice Volny 159.4
Zhanibek Alimkhanuly 159.8 vs. Hassan N’Dam 158.6
Raymond Muratalla 135.5 vs. Elias Araujo 137
Isaac Dogboe 125.5 vs. Christopher Diaz 125

Bradley: Porter’s career on the line

“The fight is going to be a lot better, a war because of the temperament of both these guys. Not the style but the temperament,” said Tim Bradley to ESPN on Porter and Crawford.

“Both of these guys have savage personalities, and they’re going to bring it into the ring on Saturday night,” Bradley said of Crawford, 34, and Porter.

“Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, he can’t afford to lose this fight because he’ll be off the pound-for-pound list, and everybody is going to say, ‘I told you he wasn’t as good as we thought he was.’

“Shawn Porter, if he doesn’t win this fight, it could very well be the end of Shawn Porter, and he’ll probably be doing what I’m doing right now, commentating boxing. It’s a must-win fight for both guys, and it’s going to be a must-see event.

“I don’t think Shawn Porter is going to knock out anybody. He hasn’t had a knockout since 2017,” said Bradley. “It’s no disrespect to him at all. Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, the harder you fight a guy or a guy at your status, it’s hard to knock a guy out.

Tim predicting knock out for Crawford

“But I think there’s going to be a knockout late in this fight, and I think it’s going to favor Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford. When I look at Shawn Porter, I thought this fight was 50-50, but when I went into the lab and dissected both fighters, Crawford can do whatever Porter can do on both sides of the table.

“He [Crawford] can press forward, he can fight off the back foot, he can also fight out of the southpaw stance and move forward and backward as well.

“So what can Shawn Porter do to beat Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford? I just don’t see it, guys. It’s no disrespect to Shawn Porter. I think it’s going to be a fantastic fight.

“I’m not saying it’s going to be a boring fight. It will be a fantastic fight because Shawn Porter is tough, he’s durable, and he’s hungry. I can tell you this.

“Crawford has never been in the ring with anybody that wants it just as bad as he does,” said Bradley.
