Tyson Fury wishing Deontay Wilder a happy birthday

By  William Lloyd: Tyson Fury wished Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder a happy birthday on Friday as he turned 36 today.

In a class move, the WBC heavyweight champion Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) gave the recently defeated former champion Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) a birthday greeting on social media today, showing his appreciation for the great fight they had recently.

Wilder has lost his last two fights and has a big decision about which direction he wants to go with his career.

Deontay hasn’t won a fight since 2019, when he came from behind to stop the then 40-year-old Luis Ortiz in the ninth round.

Wilder hasn’t said much to the media since his 11th round knockout loss to Fury on October 9th. He’s not said whether he wants to continue his career or not, and some boxing fans believe that he may pack it in.

Is Andy Ruiz Jr. next for Wilder?

It’s a long way back for Wilder, but it’s possible that he can come back. There is talk that the hard-hitting former WBC champion Wilder may fight next against former IBF/WBA/WBO champion Andy Ruiz Jr. in the first quarter of 2022.

If Wilder beats Ruiz, he’ll be right back in a position to challenge for the titles once the smoke clears from a series of massive fights next year.

Tyson Fury’s birthday greeting to Deontay Wilder

“This is Tyson Fury, AKA The Gypsy King. This is a very special happy birthday message to my old mate, Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder. Have a fantastic day, Wilder.

“Thank you for the great fights we’ve had and the trilogy, and you’re a great, great fighter, an awesome fighter.

“I hope you have a fantastic day with you and your family. I hope God blesses you abundantly. All the best, lots of love from your old pal, ‘The Gypsy King.’ All the best, God bless, Wilder,’ said Fury.

Who knows? If both guys win their fights next year, we could see a fourth fight between Wilder and Fury in 2023. Fury will likely face Dillian Whyte next, followed by the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 rematch winner later in the year.

Assuming Fury wins his two fights and Wilder defeats Ruiz, or whoever he faces next, it makes sense for a fourth Fury-Wilder match to occur in the first quarter of 2023.
