Evander Holyfield 225.4 vs. Vitor Belfort 206.2 – weigh-in results

By Charles Brun: Evander Holyfield weighed in at 225.4 lbs during Friday’s weigh-in for his eight round fight against 44-year-old former UFC champion Vitor Belfort at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Order the fight on FITE TV (click here!)

Belfort weighed in at 206.2 lbs but looked more muscular due to his shorter height. This is a Triller PPV card selling for $50.

Holyfield looked in great shape for a fighter of any age, but his problem isn’t how he looks. It’s more to do with his diminished reflexes and hand speed, as the combination of age, ring-wear, and in ten years of inactivity has done a job on his once-great skills.

It’s like a witches brew of factors that have reduced Holyfield to a fighter whose punches are thrown seemingly in slow motion now. If Belfort can’t beat this version of Holyfield, it’s troubling. At this point, Holyfield looks like an easy mark for Belfort.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is expected to be ringside for the fight to sell his trilogy match with Holyfield possibly.

For that fight to happen, the 58-year-old Holyfield (44-10-2, 29 KOs) must win on Saturday against Belfort, and there’s a lot of doubt on whether he’ll be able to do that.

Maybe it would be good if Belfort beats Holyfield on Saturday because it would save the fans the expense of paying to see an old-timer show between Evander and Mike Tyson.

Triller likely won’t get Tyson to agree to fight Belfort if he beats Holyfield because it’s not a match that would register with Americans.

Other weights on Saturday’s Holyfield vs. Belfort card:

  • Anderson Silva 192.6 vs. Tito Ortiz 200
  • David Haye 211.5 vs. Joe Fournier 195.5
  • Jono Carroll 130 vs. Andy Vences 129.4
  • Anthony Chavez 129.2 vs. Diuhl Olguin 128
  • Eleazer Silva 158 vs. Terry Roscoe 155

Although former two-division world champion David Haye (28-4, 26 KOs) is on the card, fighting for the first time since retiring in 2018, there’s not much interest in his fight with 38-year-old Fournier.

Given that the 40-year-old Haye is fighting his friend Fournier, that’s resulted in fans not being excited about this fight. It would have meant more if Triller had set up a better fight for Haye against Derek Chisora, David Price, Dave Allen, or Hughie Fury.

At least with Haye fighting one of those guys, boxing fans would get a little more amped up about having the Hayemaker on the card. The way it is now, it’s useless having Haye on the card. Hopefully, Triller isn’t paying Haye a lot for his mismatch.
