By Ken Hissner: At Madison Square Garden Hulu Theater, New York, New York, before a sold-out crowd, Tuesday, Lou DiBella (DiBella Entertainment) and Joe DeGuardia (Starr Boxing), over USA FITE.tv featured Eric “Baby Face Assassin” Walker losing to Ivan “The Volok” Golub, for the vacant USBA Welter title. In the Main Event, Mike “The Bounty” Hunter easily stopped Mike “Delight” Wilson for the vacant WBA Continental-Americas Heavyweight title.

Eric “Baby Face Assassin” Walker, 20-4 (9), #147, of Plaquemine, LA, lost to southpaw Ivan “The Volk” Golub, 20-1 (15), #146.2, of Ukraine and Brooklyn, NY, for the vacant USBA Welter title, over 10 rounds.
Walker was down in the fifth and ninth rounds. The referee was Eddie Claudio. For some reason, this was not aired.

In the Main Event Michael “The Bounty” Hunter, 20-1-1 (14), #217.2, of Las Vegas, NV, stopped Mike “Delight” Wilson, 21-2 (10), #224.2, of Medford, ORE, at 2:49 of the fourth of a scheduled 10 rounds, for the vacant WBA Continental-Americas Heavyweight title.

In the first round, Hunter had his way with the 38-year-old Wilson. In the second round, Hunter showboated and hit Wilson after the bell. Referee Ricky Gonzalez walked him to the corner, warning Hunter. In the third round, Hunter continued pounding on Wilson.

In the fourth round, Hunter knocked down Wilson with a right on the chin. Wilson got up bleeding from the mouth, nose, and a cut outside the left eye, with Referee Gonzalez calling a halt. The commentator called referee Gonzalez Eddie Claudio another referee.

Former WBO World Light Welter champ Chris Algieri, 25-3 (9), #142.8, of Huntington, Long Island, NY, won a lopsided decision over Mikkel “Slikk Mikk” LesPierre, 22-3-1 (10), #144, of Trinidad and Tobago, living in Brooklyn, NY, over 10 lopsided rounds.

In the first five rounds, though, coming back after a two-year layoff, Algieri dominated the fight, outworking southpaw LesPierre who had his moments. In the sixth round, Algieri landed over two dozen unanswered punches bloodying the nose of LesPierre with a brutal body and head punishment.

The punishment continued in the seventh round as the former champ Algieri simply had too many skills for LesPierre. For the remainder of the fight, it was all Algieri who was quite impressive against a worthy opponent pitching a shutout.

Scores were 99-91 and 100-90 twice, as did this writer have it. The referee was Ron Lipton.

Light Heavyweight southpaw “Mighty” Joseph Ward, 4-1 (2), #175.25, of Moate, Ireland, easily defeated Tory “Humble Beast” Williams, Jr., 5-1-1 (4), #175.5, of Monroe, LA., over 6 rounds.

In the second round, Ward rocked Williams with a left on the chin, having him hurt but let him off the hook. In the fifth round, Ward was cut from a clash of heads. His corner didn’t do much of a job taking care of it. In the sixth and final round, Ward continued to have his way.

The referee was Shada Murdaugh.

Light Heavyweight Matthew Tinker, 7-0 (6), #175.2, of the UK and New York, NY, stopped Michael Rycraft, 4-2-1 (3), #173.25, of Utica, NY, in 3rd round of a scheduled 6 rounds.

Super Lightweight Aaron “The Alien King” Aponte, 4-0 (2), #139.75, of Gardens, FL, stopped Gerardo Gonzalez, 2-1 (1), #138, of Las Vegas, NV, at 0:30 of the second round of a scheduled 4 rounds.

In the first round, after a little over a minute, the taller Aponte dropped Gonzalez with a right on the chin for an 8-count by referee Sparkle Lee. Though hurt again in the final minute, he managed to get through the round. In the second round, within seconds, Aponte landed a right on the chin and down went Gonzalez when referee Lee wisely stopped the mismatch.

Highly touted amateur Flyweight Christina Cruz, 1-0 (0), #111.25 of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, won a majority decision over Indeya Smith, 1-3-1 (1), #111.5, of Dallas, TX, over 4 competitive rounds.

In the first round, the 38-year-old Cruz dominated and hit Smith after the bell. In the second through the fourth rounds, Smith came back well to landing left hooks against the taller Cruz in three close rounds.
Scores were 38-38, 39-37, and 40-36. This writer had it 38-38. The referee was Sparkle Lee.
