By Allan Fox: Former WBC junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia (36-0, 29 KOs) will now be facing the recently knocked out Kamil Szeremeta (21-1, 5 KOs) in the headliner on June 19th on DAZN after his originally scheduled opponent Maciej Sulecki pulled out of the fight.

Sulecki would have been a far better choice for Munguia to fight, as it would give him a chance to prove that he belongs inside the ring with the top guys at 160.

Munguia vs. Szeremeta has early knockout written all over it and might end within two to three rounds of Jaime presses the Polish fighter.

Munguia has fought twice since moving up to 160 in 2020, beating Tureano Johnson and Gary O’Sullivan by knockout.

The fight will be taking place at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

@JuliusJulianis is reporting the news of Szeremeta being the replacement opponent for 24-year-old Munguia to fight in the main event on June 19th.

(Szeremeta seen here getting dropped by Gennady Golovkin)

One good thing about Munguia facing Szeremeta is it’ll give boxing fans a chance to compare how he does against him compared to Gennadiy Golovkin. Munguia has been trying to get a fight against Golovkin lately with no luck.

If Munguia can destroy Szeremeta more impressively than Golovkin, it’ll allow the boxing public to see how much better he is than the Kazakhstan fighter.

Szeremeta, 31, isn’t the ideal opponent for the unbeaten Munguia to fight, as he was recently stopped by IBF middleweight championGolovkin last December on DAZN. With that said, Szeremeta might be as good as it gets, given the short notice.

GGG toyed with Szeremeta like a cat with a mouse before the fight was finally halted in the seventh round. Szeremeta had no power to keep Golovkin honest, and he was wretchedly inexperienced at the upper-tier level.

The IBF, for some reason, made Szeremeta the mandatory, and he looked totally out of place fighting Golovkin.

Golovkin’s handlers justified the choice of Szeremeta, saying that it was his mandatory. They could have fought WBC champion Jermall Charlo or WBO champ Demetrius Andrade, but they wanted Szeremeta, and you can understand why. It was like sparring.

There was no rush for Golovkin to take the fight, as it’s pretty clear he had no fights on tap in 2021 other than one later this year in December against WBA belt-holder Ryota Murata.

In the co-feature on the Munguia vs. Szeremeta card, super middleweight contender Gabe Rosado (25-13-1, 14 KOs) will take on the unbeaten Bektemir Melikuziev (7-0, 6 KOs).

This fight could turn out to be better than the main event by far, as Rosado and Bektemir can both fight.  Rosado is coming off a controversial 12 round split decision last November on DAZN. That was a fight that many boxing fans felt that Rosado deserved to win.
