By Matt Lieberman: YouTuber Jake Paul (3-0, 3 KOs) and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley have reportedly agreed to a boxing match that will be shown on Showtime. Paul, 24, says he’ll be making the announcement on Tuesday for his next fight.

The Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley fight will have a Friday face-off in Miami this week to get a headstart attracting interest in that match-up.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is fighting Jake Paul’s older brother Logan Paul this Sunday on Showtime pay-per-view in Miami, so that’s a perfect vehicle to promote the Jake-Woodley fight.

Sources for Mike Coppinger report the news of Jake Paul taking on the 39-year-old former UFC star Woodley, whose career has sunk into oblivion with four consecutive losses in the octagon for that company.

This will be the first fight of a multi-fight deal for Jake Paul with Showtime. Jake is predicting that the fight with Woodley will break a boxing PPV record. That’s hard to believe because it’ll need to hit over 4 million buys.

“This will be the biggest fight yet. This will be the hardest fight I’ve had, the toughest opponent by far, the most known opponent. We will break another boxing PPV record,” said Jake Paul.

Woodley figures to be an upgrade for Jake Paul from his previous fight against former UFC fighter Ben Askren, who he stopped in the first round on April 17th in Atlanta, Georgia.

On paper, this is an upgrade for Jake from his previous fight against 36-year-old Askren. Just how much of an upgrade the 5’9″ Woodley is debatable. Woodley is short and fat, and he’s going to have problems with the size, power, youth, and advanced boxing ability that Jake possesses.

Although Woodley is known for having good stand-up skills, he’s more of a grappler, and he’s not on the level of a Jake Paul. Woodley’s advanced age, lack of size, and the fat that he’s carrying around could be a massive problem for him against Jake.

It’s a little surprising that UFC president Dana White gives the green light to let Woodley fight Jake. Is Woodley no longer under contract with the UFC? That’s the only thing that Matt Lieberman can suspect because it’s not good for White and the UFC if Woodley is seen getting knocked out by YouTuber Jake Paul.

That could be disastrous for what’s left of Woodley’s career, which is already in bad, bad shape with him having lost his last four fights. With that many consecutive losses is in the UFC, it wouldn’t be surprising if Woodley is no longer with them.
