By Allan Fox: Demetrius Andrade intruding in on Canelo Alvarez’s post-fight press conference last Saturday night made promoter Eddie Hearn happy on two fronts as it helped both guys get more attention.

Hearn liked that the superstar Canelo (56-1-2, 38 KOs) showed a different side of his personality by joking with Andrade, saying he hasn’t fought anyone, and then cursing him.

Canelo is like a bowstring being pulled back for 30 years, and he finally gave fans a chance to see something different. It was as if Canelo was transformed into a Jake Paul-type personality, and it was refreshing.

It not only helped Canelo show a different side of his personality, but it also gave Andrade, 33, some badly needed attention.

Canelo destroyed WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs) in eight rounds last Saturday night at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Andrade getting more attention

This was a great start for Andrade to make him known to a lot of boxing fans that have never heard of him. So even if Canelo chooses to never face Andrade, he at least is known by more people now.

Canelo doesn’t have time to entertain a fight with Andrade this year, as he’s planning on facing IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) in September.

After that, there’s the possibility of a trilogy match against Gennadiy Golovkin for Canelo.

WBO middleweight champion Andrade (30-0, 18 KOs) is one of Hearn’s fighters in his Matchroom Boxing stable, but he’s come up empty in his attempts to line up a fight for him against one of the bigger name fighters like Canelo, Gennady Golovkin and Jermall Charlo.

“I enjoyed it,” Hearn said to the DAZN Boxing Show about Andrade busting in on Canelo’s post-fight press conference last Saturday. “Demetrius caused some noise but it wasn’t bad for him, and for Canelo, it just showed his personality which everyone loved to see.

“People are going to see the true personality of Canelo. He’s funny. I think people like to see it, that clip, it’s gone everywhere.

“I know that fighters call out fighters. I’d love to see him get a big fight but we were there to talk about the Saunders fight. Everyone knows what Canelo Alvarez wants to do, he wants to become undisputed and fight Caleb Plant .”

Hearn has got to figure out a way to get fights for Andrade because he’s not in the same position to get whatever opponent he wants the way Canelo has.

It’s not worked for Hearn to try and shame the other champions Gennady Golovkin, Jermall Charlo, or Ryota Murata to fight Andrade. Hearn thought when he signed Andrade, he would be able to match him against

David Benavidez reacts to Canelo explosion

“Everybody is trying to get a fight with Canelo from 160 to 175 because everybody knows that once they get a fight with Canelo, it changes your life,” said David Benavidez to Fighthub.

“It was a little drama show. I liked it, it was pretty funny. I think he’s [Canelo] a little tired of everyone talking s***. And I would have done the same thing, so I think it’s kind of getting to him. He’s getting annoyed at everybody talking s*** about him,” said Benavidez.

Ultimately, it’s good for Canelo to relaxing, joking and being more personable when the cameras are on him. For a superstar, Canelo been reserved for most of his boxing career until now.

Canelo will next be facing IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant in September for the undisputed championship, possibly in Las Vegas.

The only thing that Hearn has to worry about Canelo is him getting beaten by someone a little too good. It’s been three years since Canelo fought a real threat in Gennadiy Golovkin, and he’s taking it easy by beating lesser fighters since then.

Canelo’s skills looked rusty against Saunders, and he was out of breath much of the time.
