Teofimo Lopez: The fight with Kambosos won’t go past 3 rounds

By Sean Jones: Teofimo Lopez says his opponent George Kambosos Jr won’t make it past the third round when the two meet in the main event on Triller pay-per-view on June 5th.

For that boxing fans that don’t remember, Teofimo also predicted a knockout of Vasily Lomachenko last October. Instead, the one-armed Lomachenko came close to scoring a stoppage in the second half of the fight.

Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) has already talked to his dad Teofimo Sr about his own personal prediction, and he’s saying the fight will be over in three rounds.

Teofimo will be defending his IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO lightweight titles against the highly motivated Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs) on June 5th at the Marlins Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Hopefully, Teofimo doesn’t get too hung up on trying to knockout Kambosos because he will be trying to take his head off. Teofimo is Kambosos’ Super Bowl. This fight is Kambosos’ moment in the sun, and he may not get another chance.

Teofimo predicting an early end

“I’m working on my craft so that I’m untouchable that people don’t have anything else to say,” said Teofimo to Fighthub about his fight with Kambosos.

“We then finish it with a bang. I think he’s a strong fighter, a hungry fighter, someone that is going to want to come in aggressive. It’s going to be a good fight.

It’s going to be one of those fights where you may see us toe-to-toe. And it’s one of those events where this guy has something to prove to himself, and he’s one of those guys that has to improve. So it’s going to be a great match.

“I’m cool, whatever; say what you got to say,” said Teofimo about the trash-talking that Kambosos Jr is doing. ”

“But at the end of it all, nobody can trash talk better than I can. Yeah, it will. I agree with him,” said Teofimo when asked if he agrees with his dad, who says that the fight will end early,” said Teofimo on the Kambosos fight.

The way that Teofimo describes the fight, it’s going to be a showcase variety rather than a match that will be competitive.

The fans that ordered the Teofimo – Kambosos Jr fight on Triller PPV probably won’t be pleased to get little value for their money.

Lopez says Kambosos won’t go past three

“Me and him will talk about it, and we both agree on it,” said Teofimo in how the fight with Kambosos will end. “The same thing me and him sat down and talked about [Richard] Commey.

“It goes down to that. We stay focused. It won’t go past three, and that’s how I stay on. I know and I’m calling it.

“So I’m even thinking about putting money on it. So yeah, Kambosos, you’re going down within three.

“I’m a lot sharper, and I have more time,” Teofimo said when asked how his preparation is going in this camp compared to in his last camp for the Vasily Lomachenko fight.

“In the Loma camp, we had seven weeks. For this camp, we have nine. Richard Commey, we had ten. So better preparation, and on top of that, we’re having fun.

I’m enjoying and working on some of the flaws that I had in my last fight.

“You got to go back, because even though we won, there are things we still got to work on because no one is perfect,” said Teofimo.

Kambosos already said this week that he’s going to be looking for a third-round stoppage all. Teofimo’s prediction is more believable based on his huge size for the 135-lb weight class.
