Mayweather – Logan Paul is absolutely horrendous says Eddie Hearn

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather’s decision to face YouTuber Logan Paul still has promoter Eddie Hearn shaking his head in disgust at the pure oddity of the fight that will be sold to the boxing public on June 5th in a fight on Showtime pay-per-view.

Hearn doesn’t understand the logic behind the former six-division world champion Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) fighting YouTuber Logan Paul (0-1), whose experience is limited to a poor performance in losing a six-round decision to fellow YouTuber KSI in 2019.

Without a handicap to give Logan a slight chance of competing, it’s going to be a pure mismatch, and it’ll likely anger the gullible boxing fans that purchase the match thinking naively that the YouTuber has a chance of beating the 44-year-old Mayweather.

At worst, the Mayweather vs. Logan Paul monstrosity could put off the casual boxing fans from purchasing fights in the future.

Mayweather won’t just be sickening his own fans with this farce, but also those who might otherwise be interested in ordering quality fights that bring entertainment value.

You can say that Mayweather had guessed right by letting his fight with Manny Pacquiao marinate six years before finally making the fight in 2015 when the Filipino star began to show signs of being on the decline with his career.

In 2017, Mayweather guessed right again by fighting former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match that brought in 4.4 million pay-per-view buys but was a terribly boring mismatch. Mayweather and McGregor made their money, and the fans got a lousy product and were furious afterward.

Now four years later, Mayweather is going to try his luck for a third time by attempting to sell the worst mismatch of all by fighting a YouTuber who has zero background in boxing other than a loss to a fellow YouTuber in a celebrity match in 2019.

“Mayweather – Logan Paul is absolutely horrendous,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV on the June 5th exhibition match between boxing superstar and the winless YouTuber Logan.

“I mean, look, I can understand Jake Paul against Ben Askren, and actually, Jake Paul against Tommy Fury.

“I don’t think that fight [Jake vs. Tommy] will get made, but Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul, what is that?” said Hearn in voicing his disgust for the Mayweather – Logan exhibition fight on pay-per-view.

The date of the Mayweather vs. Logan Paul could change to June 6th so that it doesn’t compete with the Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos r fight on Triller PPV on June 5th.
