Matchroom and OPI Since 82 return to the Allianz Cloud in Milan on Friday April 16 for a stacked night of Title action featuring Fabio Turchi vs. Dylan Bregeon, live on DAZN.

Florence’s Turchi (18-1, 13 KOs) bounced back from his first career loss to Tommy McCarthy by capturing the IBF International Cruiserweight Title against Nikolajs Grisunins last October, and now the ‘Stone Crusher’ faces undefeated Frenchman Bregeon (11-0-1, 3 KOs) for the European Union crown.

Undefeated Super-Middleweights Ivan Zucco (12-0, 10 KOs) and Luca Capuano (11-0, 2 KOs) meet for the Italian Title, plus there’s action for rising Super-Welterweight talent Samuel Nmoah (14-0, 4 KOs), Lazio Super-Lightweight youngster Armando Casamonica (1-0), EBU European Union Featherweight Champion Mauro Forte (14-0-1, 5 KOs) and former EBU European Union Flyweight Champion Mohammed Obbadi (21-1, 13 KOs).

Matchroom Sport Managing Director Eddie Hearn said: “On a huge week for the Cruiserweight division that sees Lawrence Okolie take on Krzysztof Glowacki for the WBO World Title, I’m delighted to announce Fabio Turchi’s return to the ring as he looks to climb the rankings towards a World Title shot of his own. We know just how good Francesco Patera is from his win over Lewis Ritson in Newcastle, and I’m confident his clash with Boschiero won’t disappoint. We look forward to another great night in Milan, with all of the action shown around the world on DAZN.”

Christian Cherchi of OPI Since 82 said: “Another important test is waiting Fabio Turchi in his challenge for European Union Title against Dylan Bregeon. A stacked undercard features Samuel Nmomah, Mauro Forte, Armando Casamonica and Mohammed Obbadi. Don’t miss it, live and on demand on DAZN!”

Fabio Turchi: “I know Dylan Bregeon and I will beat him. I want the European Union cruiserweight title”

Fabio, do you know Dylan Bregeon?

“Yes, since we were amateurs. We were supposed to fight in the amateurs, but the event was canceled. Dylan Bregeon is a good boxer and I don’t underrate him, but I must beat him to reach my goal: become European Union cruiserweight champion and then get a shot at European champion Tommy McCarthy. I want the rematch with McCarthy and the European belt has always been one of my goals since I became a professional. Defeating McCarthy will make even more special winning the EBU title.”

Tell us about your training.

“I’m training as usual with my father Leonardo as boxing coach and with athletic trainer Donato Quinto. My father was Italian light heavyweight champion in 2002-2003 and again in 2006 and fought for the European light heavyweight title losing against Thomas Ulrich in 2007.”

Are you happy with your pro career?

“Yes, but it’s a fact that losing against Tommy McCarthy made my route to the top slower. I should be European champion right now.”

You are n.9 in the IBF ranking, would you like to fight their world champion Mairis Briedis?

“Yes, because I know him well. I worked for him as a sparring partner when he trained for the fight against Krzysztof Glowacki who is a southpaw like me. I spent ten days in Latvia and during the sparring sessions Mairis hit hard like in a real fight. Briedis won by TKO 3 against Glowacki.”

So, your long term goal is the world title?

“Yes, like every other fighter I want to become world champion. I’m promoted by Opi Since 82-Matchroom and with their support I’m confident that I will get a world title shot if I keep on winning. I want also to thank DAZN for giving worldwide exposure to Italian fighters.”

The press conference to present the Milano Boxing Night was held at Raffaello Hotel in Milan, Italy. Promoted by Opi Since 82-Matchroom-DAZN, the event will be staged at Allianz Cloud next Friday. In the main event, Fabio Turchi (18-1 with 13 KOs) will challenge French champion Dylan Bregeon (11-0-1 with 3 KOs) for the vacant European Union cruiserweight belt on the 12 rounds distance. Undefeated super middleweights Ivan Zucco (12-0 with 10 KOs) and Luca Capuano (11-0 with 2 KOs) will fight for the vacant Italian title on the 10 rounds distance.

Francesco Patera and Vladislav Melnyk should have fought for the vacant WBC Silver lightweight championship, but a member of Melnyk’s team resulted positive to Covid-19 and the fight was canceled. The promoters found a late sub: Nicola Henchiri (Italy, 9-3-2) will fight Patera on the 8 rounds distance and with no title on the line. Biagio Patera who trains his brother Francesco commented: “We trained to fight Devis Boschiero, then Vadislav Melnyk and now we have to fight Nicola Henchiri. The most important thing is getting back in the ring after one year and half.” Same attitude by his brother: “I want to get back in the ring, I want the big fights against major names and that’s why I will beat Nicola Henchiri on Friday night.”

Luca Capuano: “I trained for this fight like I always trained: very seriously. This time I’m more motivated because the fight is on the ten rounds distance and there is the Italian belt on the line. Winning the national title is my priority, against Ivan or somebody else is the same. I have no problem fighting everybody. Maybe in the near future I will fight Daniele Scardina.”

Ivan Zucco: “I can’t wait to fight for the Italian championship. I consider Luca a technical boxer, while I am both a boxer and a fighter. Like Capuano, I have no problem fighting everybody including Daniele Scardina. A derby between Italian fighters makes sense.”

Fabio Turchi sounded very confident in himself: “Defeating Nikolajs Grisunins brought my confidence back after the loss to Tommy McCarthy. I want the European Union belt. Bregeon is a good fighter and I respect him. In the last few months I grew up as a fighter adding weapons to my arsenal and you will see it on Friday night. Dylan is a little taller than me, but I am used to fight taller opponents. I will adapt to his style and prepare the right counters. The best man will win and that means me!”

Dylan Bregeon didn’t talk much: “I like Fabio’s style and the fight will be entertaining. The best man will win.”
