Michael Hunter warns Tommy Fury about Jake Paul – Don’t sleep on this Kid
By Charles Brun: Heavyweight contender Michael Hunter is warning Tommy Fury that he better not overlook the threat Jake Paul presents to him because this is a real fighter, not just a YouTuber.
Hunter has watched Jake train and spar in Las Vegas, and he came away impressed with what he saw. He sees the 24-year-old cruiserweight Jake (2-0, 2 KOs) as a guy that is a “natural born fighter.”
Hunter isn’t the only professional fighter that is impressed with what they’ve from Jake. Hasim Rahman Jr, Anthony Dirrell, and Jean Pascal all like what they see from Paul.
Tyson Fury wants Jake to fight his little brother Tommy Fury (5-0, 4 KOs), who fights at light heavyweight. That might be a bad idea because Tommy looks uncoordinated, weak, slow, and not someone that was designed to be a fighter.
Obviously, Tyson Fury showed promise early on in his career. He’s someone that you could early that he was going to be special, but that gift is entirely missing from Tommy Fury, who looks robotic and slow.
What you have to be concerned with if you’re Tommy is what a loss at the hands of Jake Paul would do to him mentally. Jake Paul possesses the kind of power that could result in Tommy Fury getting knocked out.
Would Tommy handle getting knocked out by a Youtuber? It would be tough for him to come back from, and the same goes for Carl Froch, who appears to be itching for a fight against Jake.
Hunter: Jake Paul is a real boxer
“I seen that I thought it was legit because Tyson Fury and their whole little camp are known for saying, and they’re so good at it, you can’t even take it personal,” said Hunter to Behind The Gloves about Fury getting Jake Paul worked up about fighting Tommy Fury.
“That’s who they are, but you can’t do that with everybody because somebody is going to strike back.
“When I seen that, I’ll fight Tyson Fury for him [Jake]. I’ll beat the big brother up, you beat the little brother [Tommy Fury] up,” Hunter said about wanting to take on Fury while Jake Paul beats up Tommy. “Let’s do that.
“One thing, Jake Paul, we were going to the same gym in Vegas. My brother and me and him, we talked quite a few times. I like him, he’s a respectable dude. What I really like about him, though, is I was watching him work and spar and stuff.
“I was just sitting there and amazed because this dude [Jake Paul] is a real boxer. He’s a celebrity, he needs to get experience, yes, but there are two different types of people.
“One person can get hit and calculate it and formulate it and do the right thing. And then there’s the one person that is going to get mad and run away and deal with it the right way.
“He has the energy, he’s a fighter by nature. I don’t know about his brother [Logan Paul], but him, he’s a fighter by nature. He like this, this is what he likes, he loves this. He’s over there like Canelo, he has the whole camp.
“They better not sleep on this kid, I’m telling you. He’s on it, I’m telling you. I told them that,” said Hunter about Jake Paul’s training camps similar to Canelo’s.
Hunter’s comments about Jake being a “natural born fighter” are what a lot of people have been saying about him. Jake has the look of someone that has been fighting for a long, long time. He doesn’t look like a novice, he fights like someone that has been doing this for ages.

Fighters can learn from Jake
“There are some negatives, some positives all in that,” said Hunter about whether it’s a positive or negative that Jake Paul is boxing different people.
“He doesn’t start off from that boxing tradition. So he’s going to be doing things that are traditionally different.
“So would you blame Jake Paul for setting up his fight and getting them all started up and getting things that were untraditional involved?
“That’s what’s going to happen. I think other fighters like myself are going to take heed and repeat the processes to get their name out there and get their brand out there because he’s basically showing another way.
“You don’t have to just wait on the promoter and do all this other stuff. There’s other stuff that you can do if you really want it, it’s all out there.
“We’re out there in the world. Everything is open, everything is fair. There’s no NBA, there’s no NFL, there’s no sanctioning that is going to get after you about it.
“We’re all here in a collective. It’s a very small community and what we allow goes,” said Hunter.
The ability that Jake has to promote his fights are things that other fighters can learn from if they’re paying attention to what he’s doing, and if they’re not lazy.
