Hearn says Demetrius Andrade vs. Jermall Charlo is “easy fight” to make

By Kenneth Friedman: Eddie Hearn says he saw Jermall Charlo make comments on Thursday about wanting to unify the middleweight division in his next fight in 2020, and he says he’s ready to set-up a match with Demetrius Andrade.

It’s up to Premier Boxing Champions and Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs) to decide whether they want to take the risk of taking on the unbeaten Andrade, who would be a tough out for them. Shawn Porter is already predicting that Andrade will be Charlo due to his mobility and ring IQ.

Hearn states that Andrade vs. Charlo is an easy fight to make, so we’ll see. Earlier this year in January, Hearn attempted to put a fight together between his guy WBO middleweight Andrade (29-0, 18 KOs) and WBC champ Charlo, but nothing happened on Jermall’s side.

Is Jermall serious about wanting to unify division?

Charlo seemed serious yesterday about wanting to unify the 160-lb division, but he didn’t mention Andrae’s name, which was kind of odd.

He obviously knows that Canelo Alvarez is tied down with litigation right now and IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin has a fight scheduled already for November 21 against his mandatory Kamil Sceremeta.

WBA ‘regular’ champion Ryota Murata has a secondary title, and he probably wouldn’t even entertain the idea of facing Charlo.

“The fight to make is Demetrius Andrade vs Jermall Charlo. I saw Charlo last night saying he wants to unify like his brother. Easy fight to be made. He’s a world champion ready to unify. So Andrade vs Charlo? Yes please,” said Hearn via @MichaelBensonn.

Charlo is coming off of a big 1 round unanimous decision win last Saturday night over two-time world title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko on Showtime pay-per-view. If Charlo wants to keep the momentum going, then he needs to take the fight with Demetrius.

It’ll be a really difficult fight for Charlo to try and beat Andrade because he showed a lot of holes in his game in the Derevyanchenko fight. Although Charlo won by a wide score, he struggled and looked bad at times.

The performance by Jermall doesn’t suggest that he’s an invincible fighter that will stay world champion for a decade. Charlo looked like someone that will only hold down the WBC title as long as he’s carefully matched, and not put in with someone a little too good like Canelo, Golovkin or perhaps Andrade.

Hearn wants to make the Andrade vs. Charlo fight

“He needs that big name to be a star, and right now, he could be the best in the world,” said Hearn to Secondsout earlier this year about Andrade. “For me, Charlo should be fighting Demetrius Andrade.

“You’ve got a guy over there [Jermall], they have no middleweights with PBC. The only way he can unify is to fight Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin, or Demetrius.

“They’re all on DAZN. We’re not even asking you to sign a network contract or promotional contract. Just take the fight and see if you can unify the division. So hopefully he [Charlo] does because that’s the fight we all need to see,” said Hearn.
