The time of the fight event begins at 3:45 am ET, which might make it a tad bit difficult for U.S Boxing fans to see it unless they’re willing to stay up late or get up early.

The Rungvisai vs. Ruenroeng fight can be seen here on Matchroom’s YouTube channel.

Srisaket looking to bounce back

Rungvisai, 33, is fighting for the first time since losing his WBC 115lb title to Juan Francisco Estrada last year in April. It was a close fight with Estrada using movement and fast in and out attacks to score points against the discouraged-looking Rungvisai.

Mentally, Rungvisai didn’t look engaged until the second half of the fight, and by that point, it was too late for him to make up lost ground. Rungvisai had the crowd against him, and he didn’t react well to all the support that Estrada was receiving from the group.

Each time Estrada would land a punch, the crowd applauded him loudly. Rungvisai failed to receive similar treatment from the pro-Estrada group. Rungvisai had already beaten Estrada by a 12 round decision in 2018 at the same venue in Los Angeles, California.

In the rematch, Rungvisai failed to fight as hard as he needed to in the first six rounds, and that proved to be his undoing. Physically, Rungvisai was the same guy that had beaten Estrada before, but this time he failed to attack him hard in the early part of the contest the way he needed to get the win.

“The return of former WBC Super-Flyweight World Champion Rungvisai against former IBF 112lbs ruler Ruenroeng will now be shown live on the Matchroom YouTube channel,” said promoter Eddie Hearn.

“Juan Francisco Estrada will fight ‘Chocolatito’ next, we’re in the process of trying to make that fight. The winner of that fight will face Sor Rungvisai providing he gets through on the 1st,” said Hearn.

Crowd noise won’t be a problem

Next Saturday, Rungvisai won’t need to worry about the crowd being against him, as he’s fighting in his home country in Thailand at the Workpoint Studio, Bang Phun. This fight is behind closed doors without fans.

If Rungvisai loses this fight, it’s because he just wasn’t good enough to handle the superb boxing skills of Ruenroeng.

Former IBF flyweight champion Ruenroeng will be looking to capture his third consecutive victory since last year. Ruenroeng’s eight-year pro career looked in bad shape going into 2019, given that he’d been defeated by Nawaphon Kaikanha and Wenfeng Ge in back to back fights in 2017 and 2018. Ruenroeng had also been knocked out in four rounds by John Riel Casimero in four rounds 1n 2016.

In the previous year, Ruenroeng had beaten Casimero by an impressive 12 round unanimous decision in 2015. The way that Ruenroeng outboxed Casimero, many boxing fans believed that he would be able to do it again going into their rematch in 2016. But Ruenroeng underestimated the raw punching power of the Filipino knockout artist Casimero, and he paid for it by getting stopped early by him.

After Ruenroeng’s loss to Casimero, his career kind unraveled with him losing to
Nawaphon Kaikanha (49-1, 39 KOs) by a fifth-round knockout in 2018, and then getting beaten by Winfeng Ge (12-1, 6 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision in 2017.

Srisaket has wins over Cholatito and Estrada

Rungvisai had twice beaten the talented former four-division world champion Roman’ Chocolatito’ Gonzalez in 2017. If Chocolatito defeats Estrada in their rematch in October, then we’ll be seeing a trilogy match between him and Rungvisai.

If Estrada beats Gonzalez, then it’ll be him facing Rungvisai in a trilogy match. Either way, boxing fans are guaranteed to see a great fight. To make that happen, Rungvisai must do his part by defeating the well-respected Ruenroeng next Saturday night on August 1.

Rungvisai can’t have any more mental letdowns as we saw in his fight against Estrada because Ruenroeng is more than capable of beating him by a decision.

We probably won’t see a knockout victory for Ruenroeng because he lacks the power needed for him to have a shot of knocking out Rungvisai, but he can undoubtedly outbox him.

You can bet that Ruenroeng will have studied Rungvisai’s defeat to Estrada, and they’ll be looking to follow his game plan that he used to defeat him.

Ruenroeng is a brilliant fighter who is capable of coming up with great game plans to win his fights. In this case, it’s going to be a lot tougher for Ruenroeng due to him facing a bigger and stronger fighter than himself in Ruenroeng.

Rungvisai might be the hardest puncher that Ruenroeng will have ever fought when he gets inside the ring with Rungvisai.
