Adrien Broner DEMANDS $10M from Al Haymon and Showtime for next fight

By Jim Maltzman: Former four-division world champion Adrien Broner posted n social media on Sunday a request made to Al Haymon at Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime, demanding $10 million for his next fight.

Broner’s mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr. has a net worth of $700 million to $1 billion, according to Investopedia. When you compare Broner’s $9 million net that Celebrity Net Worth lists him at, he’s nowhere close to Mayweather.

Where will Broner go?

After 12 years as a professional, Broner could be starting to realize that he’s not going to be the big money earner Floyd and Manny Pacquiao have been in their respective careers.

Adrien isn’t saying where he’ll go if he doesn’t get the $10 million that he’s asking for from Haymon and Showtime. Will Broner sign with Matchroom Boxing USS and DAZN?

Broner (33-4-1, 24 KOs) picking a bad time for him to be asking for that kind of money from Haymon and Showtime. There is no boxing right now, and when it returns, it could be behind closed doors type matches.

Broner isn’t a pay-per-view level fighter, and he hasn’t won a fight since 2017. That’s three years without a victory. The only reasons Broner keeps getting picked by high-profile fighters like Manny Pacquiao and Mikey Garcia is because of what he achieved early on.

Broner says he can become a world champion again, but he’s not saying which division he’ll achieve that goal. It’s safe to say that Broner won’t beat any of the belt-holders at 140 and 147. There aren’t any easy marks for Broner to face in those eight classes for him to pick up a belt.

If Broner moves down to 135, he would have a hard time in that weight classes as well against champions Devin Haney, Vasily Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis, and Teofimo Lopez.

Broner makes $10 million ultimatum

“If I don’t get $10 million in my next fight, I’m not fighting,” said Broner on his Instagram page. “So, @showtimeboxing and AL Haymon, that’s where I’m at with this boxing s*** or I will just go do my own thing and start over. I will be champion again.

“A lot of people might look at me like I’m crazy, but I will get the last laugh. I know the business and I understand the game. It’s my way or the highway. So I’m I-75, and I don’t stop for a while. So keep it pushing until you run out of gas or PAY ME!!!!

Despite a great early start to his career, Broner has done very little since 2013, and he’s now viewed as a fading fighter by a lot of fans.  Broner looked destined for greatness from 2008 to 2013. Where things fell apart for Broner was when he moved up two divisions from 135 to 147.

That was the beginning of the end for Broner even though he captured the WBA welterweight title with a controversial 12 round decision over Paulie Malignaggi in 2013.

These are the results of Broner’s last four fights:

  • Adrien Granados – 10 round split decision WIN
  • Mikey Garcia – 12 round UD loss
  • Jessie Vargas – 12 round draw
  • Manny Pacquiao – 12 round UD loss

Broner’s win over Granados in 2017 was a controversial victory. Granados did enough to deserve the win over Broner in the eyes of a lot of boxing fans. Taking that win away, Broner’s last win was four years ago against Ashley Theophane in 2016.

Adrien vowing to become world champion again

I’m not f***** playing no games y’all. Put me up against the best in the world and I never turned down a fight,” said Broner. “Now it’s time to come correct or leave me the f*** alone, but I will become champion again and I promise I’m go make y’all pay double the PRICE!!!!!!!! #AboutBillions.”

If Broner moves back down to super featherweight, he could win a world title in that division. It’s not going to be easy for Broner to make the 130-pound limit at this point in his career.
