Tyson Fury shows off his 400-lb physique during his LOW period

By Scott Gilfoid: In an odd move, lineal heavyweight champion Tyson ‘The Gypsy King’ Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs) posted an old picture of himself on social media on Tuesday of him when he was around 400 pounds, and obviously not in the greatest of health.

Only Fury knows what his rationale is for posting the photo. He’s supposed to be marketing his February 22 rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KOs), but it looks like he’s using a different method.

Instead of motivating fans with the image of a healthy, highly skilled and athletic Fury, he appears to be playing the sympathy card. It’s probably the worst way to get boxing fans eager to see him fight, but that’s what Fury is doing.

Is Fury feeling sorry for himself?

Fury can’t be feeling sorry for himself when he enters the ring against the 6’7″ Deontay next month on February 22 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additionally, Fury can’t afford to be living in the past when gets inside the ring on the night, because Wilder is going to be looking to take his head off with each right hand he throws.

What’s behind Fury’s decision to post an unflattering photo of himself on social media?

The fact that Fury chose to post a photo of himself weighing 400 lbs could be a sign that he’s not happy. Is Fury having problems in sparring in getting ready for the rematch with Wilder? If so, then that would explain why Fury chose to post a photo of himself during one of the worst periods of his life.

To be sure, it’s motivating that Fury has been able to come back from a dark period in his life to win 4 out of his last 5 fights. Fury has made millions since coming off of a 2 1/2 year layoff following his upset victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, and he’s now set for life. Obviously, money doesn’t guarantee happiness, but outwardly, Fury has seemed happy since returning to the ring in 2018.

Fury has lost close to 150 lbs since coming back, and his weight is now around 250 lbs. However, with heavyweights getting smaller now, Fury’s weight might not be low enough for him to conquer the highly agile and extremely powerful 220+ lb Wilder

Fury hasn’t beaten a quality heavyweight since coming back

It’s a mistake for Fury to be patting himself on the back right now for a handful of victories that he’s compiled since mounting his comeback two years ago.

These are Fury’s wins since making his comeback:

  • Sefer Seferi
  • Francesco Pianeta
  • Tom Schwarz
  • Otto Wallin

Those aren’t the type of fighters that Fury should be bragging about beating, because he’s not beaten anyone good.
