By Chris Williams: Terence Crawford isn’t personally trash talking the top welterweights for not fighting him, but he’s found someone to do the talking for him. On social media on Saturday, one of Crawford’s friends blasted the top 147-pound fighters for not stepping up to fight him. Sadly, Crawford turned down a fight against Shawn Porter, who is with PBC. When Crawford had the chance to fight one of the best fighters in the PBC stable, he turned don the match.
That was the perfect opportunity for Crawford to fight one of the PBC fighters, and yet he turned the fight down. Some fans think Crawford was afraid of fighting Porter.
Crawford is starting to look desperate in the eyes of some boxing fans with the way that he’s complaining about the PBC 147-lb fighters not facing him.
First it Tim Bradley of ESPN that did the talking for Crawford to dare the PBC fighters to face Bud. Now it’s one of Crawford’s friends or whoever that is calling out the fighters from PBC.
The unnamed guy ripped into Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia for not fighting WBO welterweight champion Crawford (36-0, 27 KOs).
Terence’s friend goes on a rant
Crawford’s friend or whoever he is, said, “We’re already rich. All we want are the fights for the legacy. Yah pathetic. We’re not going to worry about you. We don’t need you. We don’t have to sign with nobody with Al Haymon. We don’t have to do none of that.
“For what? Everybody is independent. If they want to work, they want to work just like everyone is seeing with Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. Those are two top guys over there…I’m going to leave that with you, and let you think about all that,” said the unnamed friend of Crawford.
The fights that Crawford wants against PBC fighters could have happened if he chose not to re-up with Top Rank. Crawford had to know that by re-signing with Top Rank, there would be a good chance that he would never get the fights that he wants against the PBC fighters. So instead of blaming them, he needs to look in the mirror and take responsibility.
What Crawford’s friend doesn’t realize about the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury fight is those guys fought before Fury signed with Top Rank. They had a rematch clause before he inked with Top Rank. Their situation is completely different from Crawford, and the elite welterweights signed with Premier Boxing Champions.
Bradley: Crawford is BEGGING to fight you
“All I want to say is this: The only real man over at PBC is Deontay Wilder. You want to know why? Because he’s going to be fighting Tyson Fury in February. You guys over there [at Premier Boxing Champions], and all the other welterweights over there, this man [Crawford] is BEGGING to fight you. And he’s going to continue to beg to fight you guys.
“You guys need to put your big boy pants on, and come over and make this fight with Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, because he’s the best welterweight in the world, period,” said an emotional Bradley.
