By Charles Brun: Like a lot of fans, Anthony Joshua didn’t seem impressed with Tyson Fury’s win over German heavyweight Tom Schwarz last Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada. AJ’s reaction to Fury beating the highly ranked #2 WBO showed class. Joshua didn’t berate Fury for his win over an opponent that looked dreadful.

Joshua held back in letting his many followers on his social media site know how he really felt about Fury’s second round knockout win over Schwarz (24-1, 16 KOs) last weekend on ESPN+ at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the eyes of a lot of boxing fans on social media, Schwarz looked absolutely terrible from start to finish.

Fury couldn’t miss with his punches, and Schwarz had nothing to throw back at him to keep him honest. The fight wasn’t remotely competitive, and that’s being kind. The contest looked so bad that one felt sorry for the fans that took the time to travel to Las Vegas to see Fury in action.

AJ chooses not to tear Fury apart for beating an easy mark

“I could talk s–t, but he done what he had to, well played to him. I want to go back to fighting some easy opponents. I think, why am I out here doing all this s–t myself? Do you know what I mean?” said Joshua on his social media site.

It’s got to be tough for Joshua to hold back his thoughts on Fury’s win over a weak opponent in Tom Schwarz, because there’s so much he could say. Joshua would have probably knocked Schwarz out in the first 30 seconds of round one had he been in there with him. Schwarz would be too easy for Joshua or any heavyweight in the top 10.

Fury’s fight against Schwarz was basically a showcase to make him look good in the eyes of casual boxing fans in the U.S. The casuals have never seen Fury fight before, so Top Rank found a big, tall heavyweight with an arguably inflated ranking and resume in Tom Schwarz. Fury looked like a world beater against Schwarz, and for good reason; he was facing a lesser opponent.

Some boxing fans are giving Joshua grief because he lost his last fight against Andy Ruiz Jr. earlier this month, but that was a MUCH better fighter than the guy Fury fought last Saturday night in Schwarz.

There’s no comparison. Ruiz Jr. is an Olympian, who should still be undefeated at 34-0. Schwarz had size going for him, but not much else. In Schwarz’s previous toughest fight of his career against Senad Gashi, he struggled badly.

Furys choice of opponent made him look bad

Schwarz fought so poorly that he made Fury look bad for sharing the same ring with him. Fury had nothing to worry about from Schwarz because of his lack of punching power, and hand speed.

Fury will be back in action later this year in October or November in New York.
