WBA lightweight world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko has made his second home in New York City.

The man considered by many boxing experts to be the world’s best fighter will top the bill at a Madison Square Garden venue for the fourth time as a pro when he takes on WBO champion Jose Pedraza in a unification bout Dec. 8 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Madison Square Garden, tickets for Lomachenko-Pedraza go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 12 p.m. ET. Priced at $506, $356, $206, $106, and $56, tickets can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster charge by phone (866-858-0008), and online at ticketmaster.com and MSG.com.

Lomachenko-Pedraza will headline a special edition of Top Rank on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET, which will follow the 84th Annual Heisman Memorial Trophy Presentation.

This will be Lomachenko’s third consecutive bout at a Madison Square Garden venue. He last fought May 12 at Madison Square Garden, knocking out Jorge Linares in the 10th round in front of 10,429 fans.

AL BERNSTEIN IN ATLANTA FOR “PASSING OF THE TORCH”

Hall of Fame Boxing Announcer Al Bernstein will make a special appearance at an event honoring Waymon Harley for over 30 Years of Community service and signaling new boxing events by the Atlanta Boxing Association. This dinner will be held Saturday, October 27 at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway.

The event will not only honor Harley for his community service but also designate the “passing of the torch” to others carrying on his good work. The event will also highlight future plans for the Atlanta Boxing Association and its work in bringing major boxing events to Atlanta. Bernstein will speak at the event and do a special meet and greet.

Al said, “I am delighted to come to Atlanta to honor the work that Waymon has done with the community and to help usher in his exciting plans for boxing in Atlanta. I look forward to participating in future boxing events sponsored by the Atlanta Boxing Association.”

Bernstein hailed the official announcement of the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury Heavyweight clash as “another sign that boxing in 2018 is providing fans with exciting and big events.” The match will be televised on SHOWTIME PPV and Al will be ringside serving as analyst on the telecast. He added, “This match helps culminate a terrific year for the sport and a great year of SHOWTIME Boxing. In my 15 years of doing boxing on Showtime this year may well be the best. This is a matchup of two big men and two big personalities that will make for a very important sporting event.”

The National California Veteran Boxers Association will honor Al Bernstein at its annual dinner on October 20 at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco.

Al said, “I’m so happy to be recognized by a group that shows such respect for the courage and skill of the men who truly make boxing a special sport—the boxers. I’m also delighted to follow in the footsteps of my colleague and friend Barry Tompkins, who has also been an honoree.”

Brandon Adams Advances In The Contender
October 9, 2018 – Brandon Adams advanced to the 2nd round of The Contender as he stopped Tyrone Brunson in the 4th round of their bout that aired this past Friday night on EPIX.®

Adams (18-2, 13 KOs) dropped Brunson with a left hook to the head in round two, and then finished the fight by knocking Brunson to the canvas with a combination that was followed up by an uppercut that sent Brunson down for the count.

With the win, Adams of Los Angles advances to the round of eight, where he will meet Ievgen Kkhytov.

The original Contender series ran for four seasons (2005-2009) and launched multiple fighters into contention for world titles, including title winners Sergio Mora, Cornelius Bundrage, Sakio Bika, and Sam Soliman.
