By Mike Smith: Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner (33-3-1, 24 KOs) posted training video on social media on Tuesday saying that he’s going to be ready for war against Manny Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) on January 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

If Pacquiao looks as muscular and powerful as he did in his last fight against Lucas Matthysse, then Broner has little chance of winning. This is a point of no return for Broner’s sagging career. A loss to Pacquiao could be the end game for Broner as for as him being a draw. Broner has failed too many times to get the win, and the patience from the boxing public has all but run out for him. Broner needs a win in the worst way against Pacquiao. There’s nobody in boxing that is more similar to Mayweather than Broner.

A win for Pacquiao over Broner will be like a victory over Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the Filipino star. Broner has an identical fighting style as Mayweather. Broner is a proxy for Mayweather. So if Pacquiao beats Broner, it means he’s beaten Mayweather and avenged his loss from 2015.

Broner vs. Pacquiao hasn’t been announced yet, but the two of them are expected to face each other now that the Filipino star has signed with Premier Boxing Champions boss Al Haymon to guide his career. Broner, 29, will be the first of a number of big fights for the former eight division world champion. Pacquiao is coming off of a big win over Lucas Matthysse on July 15, and he’s looking to get another big win under his belt before possibly facing Floyd Mayweather Jr.

All eyes will be on Broner to see if he can handle the still blazing hand speed and power of Pacquiao. If Broner can’t neutralize Pacquiao’s speed and power, he’s going to wind up losing the fight badly.

Broner looks slow in his training video. He’s going to have trouble with Pacquiao’s hand speed. There’s no two ways about it, Broner will struggle against Pacquiao in their fight in January. It would be best for Broner not to start slowly like we’ve seen from him in his recent fights against Jessie Vargas and Mikey Garcia. Broner-Vargas was scored as a 12 round draw last July despite a furious rally from Broner. The chain events saw Broner go from fighting passively in the first six rounds to coming on strong in the second half. Broner relied on his defense to conserve energy in the early part of the fight, but he needed to fight hard at that time because he put himself in a big hole that he wasn’t able to climb out of to get the victory.
