By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he has no plans on coming back to boxing or MMA to continue his career. He says he’s happy being a promoter with Mayweather Promotions, promoting fighters like light heavyweight Badou Jack and WBA Super World super featherweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. However, the 41-year-old Mayweather Jr. says if he does make a comeback, he believes he can make $1 billion for 3 fights.

Mayweather might be right about that if were to fight the likes of Conor McGregor, Gennady Golovkin and Saul Canelo Alvarez. Unfortunately for Mayweather there are not big enough names at 147 and 154 in boxing for him to make the huge money that he’s been accustomed to getting for his fights.

If Mayweather wanted to pull in over $100 million, he would need to fight middleweights Golovkin or Canelo, and there would be a lot of risk involved for him in facing either of those guys.

“No, no, but if I want to come back, the billion dollar man can come back and make a few fights and probably make a billion dollars. It’s possible,” Mayweather said to Fighthype when asked if plans on making a comeback to boxing or MMA. ”We never know. Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather is my name, but I’m not coming back.”

Some fans aren’t surprised by Mayweather saying he’s not going to fight an MMA match, because they never believed he would. Mayweather has too much ego to allow himself to be humbled and potentially humiliated by Conor McGregor inside the octagon.

Mayweather says he’s not coming back, but he’s said the same thing in the past and he still came back. It’s assumed that Mayweather will fight McGregor as soon as he’s able to face him. There’s too much money for Mayweather to make fighting McGregor for him not to. It’s an ego thing too with Mayweather. He’s not being mentioned as much because he’s been out of the ring for the last 9 months, and he’s slowly being forgotten about. I don’t think Mayweather will be able to handle that for long without getting back in action against McGregor or someone else. Moreover, the way that Mayweather is burning through his fortune, he could go broke at some point.

With Mayweather’s spending habits and lavish lifestyle, it’s in his best interest to try and make as much money as he can while he can, because he’s still relatively young at 41. If Mayweather keeps spending money the way he’s been doing, he probably won’t have much less 10 years.

Mayweather improved his ring record to 50-0 with a victory over McGregor in August 2017. The fight was sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission despite McGregor having a 0-0 record fighting Mayweather with a 49-0. The fight was seen as Mayweather padding his record to break Rocky Marciano’s record of 49-0 the easy way by fighting a novice instead of a top fighter in the sport that could have potentially beaten him.

I could see Mayweather coming back to boxing if Vasyl Lomachenko was a little bit bigger, but the size difference between the two is too much for the fight to be feasible. Mayweather would be ridiculed if he fought the tiny lightweight Lomachenko.
