By Scott Gilfoid: Dereck Chisora has accepted an undercard spot on the Dillian ‘Body Snatcher’ Whyte vs. Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne card on March 24 on Sky Sports at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Chisora’s opponent is still yet to be determined.

There’s a possibility that Chisora (27-8, 19 KOs) could soon be facing former world title challenger Carlos Takam, but that’s not likely going to be the opponent he faces on March 24. Takam, 37, is not the type of opponent that you want to fight on 10 days’ notice. Chisora has lost 3 out of his last 5 fights, and he needs a win right now. Putting him in with Takam would be a terrible idea given how bad things are going to with his career.

“We just shout at each other on text message. He texted me one day, goes ‘Do you want to fight on my undercard?’ I was like ‘Yeah, why not.’” Chisora said to skysports.com about Whyte asking him if he wanted to fight on his undercard.

Chisora, 34, was helping out Browne with sparring recently to get him ready for the Whyte fight. Chisora obviously gave Browne pointers in how to beat Whyte. He fought Whyte in December 2016 and lost a controversial 12 round split decision that could have gone either way. Chisora hurt Whyte a few times in the fight with flurries. The only reason Chisora lost is because he gassed out a number of times, and allowed Whyte to take over. Chisora has been after Whyte to give him a rematch for a year now, but he’s had no luck in getting him to agree to it.

Whyte is trying to get a title shot against WBC champion Deontay Wilder or IBF/WBA champion Anthony Joshua. Whyte isn’t about to take a risky fight with Chisora before he gets a big money fight against Joshua or Wilder. Browne is a relatively safe fight for Whyte, because he doesn’t throw a lot of punches, and he’s up there in age at 38. Browne also hasn’t been that active since his win over Ruslan Chagaev in March 2016. Browne has fought only once since then in beating journeyman Matthew Greer by a 2nd round knockout last year in June.

“Yeah, we’re in talks about that now,” said Chisora about Takam. “We’ll go to war. He’s a tough guy, Joshua hit him with everything he had, but Takam was losing the fight.”

If Chisora and Takam fight each other, it’ll likely take place in May on the undercard of Tony Bellew vs. David Haye. Chisora has already been an offered a spot on the card against Joe Joyce, but he’s not shown interest in wanting to take that fight. The boxing public would like to see Chisora fight Joyce, but it could end badly for him.

Chisora has recent losses to Agit Kabayel, Kubtrat Pulev and Whyte. Chisora’s last win came last year in September in beating Robert Filipovic (4-2) by a 5th round knockout.
