By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. just dropped a second octagon video on his social media site on Wednesday, saying that 2018 it’ll be Mayweather in MMA, hinting he’ll be coming out of retirement to likely face Conor McGregor in a rematch.

” Come at the king, you best not miss…,” Mayweather said on his Twitter.

Mayweather followed that message with this one on his Instagram:

”2018, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, MMA; where are the odds, Paddy? What are the odds.”

In the brief video segment, Mayweather was seen pacing back and forth in the octagon while rubbing his hands together like he’s about to start fighting. Mayweather doesn’t look like he’s in great shape. His physique looks soft like he’s not been working out too regularly since his 10th round TKO win over McGregor on August 26 last year.

Mayweather said not long ago that he’ll never fight again, and that he wouldn’t come out of retirement for a super fight in MMA, even though it would make him a huge amount of money. But with the 2 videos that Mayweather has posted this week of him walking inside the octagon, it suggests that he’s seriously thinking about coming back.

Mayweather can’t keep this up forever without making a comeback, because it’ll be forlorn after a while. The boxing and MMA fans still stop paying attention to Mayweather if he doesn’t follow through and fight McGregor again. This would be the MMA version of Mayweather’s super fight against McGregor, and a lot of fans would be very interested in seeing ‘Money’ Mayweather lose.

McGregor is very interested in facing Mayweather again, as his UFC career seems to have stalled out since 2016. McGregor hasn’t returned to the sport that made him famous in MMA. Instead, he seemingly has been waiting on Mayweather to see if he would come out of retirement to face him in the UFC.

You can’t blame McGregor for doing that. There’s tons of money for McGregor to make against Mayweather, and not a lot in comparison for him to make fighting the other fighters in the UFC organization. In the past, Mayweather has shown no interest in fighting McGregor in the UFC, but it looks like he’s thought about it is now considering taking him on. There’s a lot of money Mayweather can make in fighting McGregor in the UFC, perhaps even more than he made in their boxing event last August.

The latest video probably has Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya cringing, fearing that Mayweather could move to upstage the May 5th scheduled rematch between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin on HBO pay-per-view. Mayweather undercard the previous Canelo-Golovkin fight last September by scheduling a fight with Conor McGregor 3 weeks ahead of that fight on August 26 on Showtime PPV. There’s no way of knowing how many pay-per-view buys were lost from the Canelo vs. Golovkin by Mayweather placing his expensive $100 per household PPV fight against McGregor right in front of that fight. There aren’t a lot of boxing fans that can afford to have their monthly capable bill increased by $175 for a single month by them ordering the Mayweather-McGregor and Canelo-Golovkin fights around the same time.
