By Allan Fox: Trainer Nacho Beristain is not in favor of famous fighters and ex-fighters like Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao calling out UFC star Conor McGregor for fights inside the boxing ring. Beristain doesn’t like that, as he respects the sport of boxing. Beristain believes that they just want the easy money that would come from fighting McGregor.

Manny Pacquiao sent a Tweet to McGregor this week, wishing him a happy Thanksgiving. The Tweet has boxing fans believing that Pacquiao is trying to get a fight with McGregor.

De La Hoya recently called McGregor out, and said he wants to make a comeback to fight him inside the boxing ring. De La Hoya is already off to a fast start in hyping his hoped for fight against McGregor by predicting an early round knockout.

Superstar boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. came out of a 2-year retirement last summer to fight Conor McGregor on August under the rules of boxing. The two of them heavily hyped their fight, and sold it on Showtime PPV for $100 per household. The fight brought in over 4 million buys on PPV, but it was a dull fight to watch. Mayweather fought like he was taking it easy on McGregor through most of the contest. When Mayweather stepped it up slightly, he was able to take McGregor out in the 10th. It looked like Mayweather had carried McGregor to the 10th.

“I would not lend myself to that type of [thing],” said Beristain to ESPN Deportes in talking about boxers fighting McGregor. ”Boxing is more serious than people think. I think it’s the need to make money, but money is not everything in life. I owe a lot to boxing and I’m going to die and I’m going to have to, so I respect that a lot.”

Mayweather make a huge amount of money for the McGregor fight. It’s unknown exactly how much money McGregor made from fighting McGregor, but it could be more than $200 million. It’s got to be tempting for guys like De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao. De La Hoya never made that kind of money in one fight, and neither did Pacquiao. He made $100 million for his fight with Mayweather in 2015, but not the huge money that he could possibly make if he fought McGregor.

”Showing and an easy way to earn money is fine, but those of us who love boxing as a serious thing, we are against what is happening,” said Beristain in talking about top boxers wanting to fight McGregor.
