By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte (21-1, 16 KOs) is still in need of an opponent for his October 28th fight next month on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev card in Cardiff, Wales.

Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn says unbeaten American heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller wanted the fight with Whyte, but he’s fighting on the undercard of Matchroom Sport fighter Daniel Jacobs vs. Luis Arias on November 11th in New York. Miller is supposed to be fighting former heavyweight world title challenger Mariusz Wach on the card.

Hearn say he’s got a top 10 heavyweight that has agreed to take the fight with Whyte. Hearn thinks he can have the opponent for Whyte signed so he can announce the fight within a week.

“I’m hoping to arrange the fight for Dillian Whyte early next week,” said Hearn to IFL TV. “All you heavyweights out there, if you need money and you want to fight Dillian Whyte, please call me. I’ve been going through the whole top 10, and no one wants the work with Dillian Whyte. I’m offering loads of money to fight Dillian Whyte on the October the 28th. I think I got one top ranked heavyweight that has actually said he’ll do it. I’ll tell you who wanted the fight. Jarrell Miller wanted the fight, but it looks like he’ll be on the November 11th card in New York. We’ll see what happens,” said Hearn.

It’s not as if Hearn didn’t have plenty of time to pay Miller to get him to fight Whyte. If Hearn really wanted to use Miller to fight Whyte, he should have done that right away. The fact that Hearn didn’t sign Whyte suggests that he didn’t want that fight to being with due to the huge risk involved for Whyte. I would pick Miller to KO Whyte if that fight happened. Whyte was hurt several times against the past his best Dereck Chisora last December. Miller is bigger, stronger a far superior heavyweight than Chisora. It would be a mismatch if Hearn put Whyte in with Miller. Hearn is a wily promoter. I think he realizes what would happen to Whyte if he dared putting him in with Miller.

Hearn is likely going to find another soft touch to put in the ring with Whyte like he did in his last fight against 38-year-old Malcolm Tann. Whyte looks good against 2nd tier fighters. He struggles when he has to fight guys with a little bit of talent.

“Joseph Parker, the problem was, his value just diminished on Saturday night with his really average performance,” said Hearn. “If you look at it now, Andy Ruiz was an average performance. [Razvan] Cojanu was an average performance. Hughie Fury was an average performance. I watched the fight. I actually thought the fight was quite close. I had Parker nicking the fight. 118-110, I thought was a bad scorecard. You cannot win a heavyweight championship fight fighting like that. They did come out with a good game plan to be in these fights,” said Hearn about Team Fury getting Hughie ready by having him fight negatively. “They really frustrated Parker. He didn’t cut him off. He just followed him around for 12 rounds, but he just did enough aggression, I think, to just get the fight. We look at Parker. We’d love to do the Dillian Whyte fight,” said Hearn.

Hearn is acting like it really matters whether Parker looked bad. It doesn’t matter. He’s unbeaten and he has the WBO title in his possession.
