Antonio Morán vs. Guadalupe Rosales on July 21
“Boxeo Telemundo Ford,” the #1 Spanish-language boxing program in the U.S., returns this Friday, July 21 at 11:35 PM/10:35 C from the Blackberry Auditorium in Mexico City where Mexicans Antonio “Toño” Morán and Guadalupe “Bronco” Rosales will fight for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Lightweight Latin Title. Telemundo Deportes’ commentators René Giraldo and Edgar López will call the action.
Morán returns to the ring after beating Richard “El Diamante” Zamora in March for the WBC Super Lightweight Latin title. Last year, he won his first two bouts including the World Boxing Council (WBC) Latin Lightweight title when he beat Juan Pablo “Lagarto” Sánchez. He later lost a very controversial decision against the former world champion Emanuel “Pollo” López on his last bout of 2016. Zamora debuted as a professional boxer in 2012 winning his first 16 fights until Luis “Cotto” Vidales beat him in 2014.
Rosales comes in to replace Wilberth Lopez who was originally confirmed to fight Morán this Friday. Rosales has won three of his last four bouts including his most recent upset win against Emmanuel “Pinkey” Colón who was undefeated for 15 straight fights. Through his career, he has won the WBC Latin Featherweight title and the Super Featherweight titles for Mexico, the WBC Latin, WBC Mundo Hispano and the FECARBOX (Central American & Caribbean Boxing Federation.) Rosales has also competed against renowned rivals including Juan Carlos Salgado, Edgar “Chananon” Puerta, Nery “La Pantera” Saguillán, Abdiel “El Mortero” Ramírez and most recently Robert “El Massa” Ortiz.
The last Boxeo Telemundo show of the Summer Season will be staged on Friday, July 28 live from the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, FL when David “Severo” Carmona of Mexico takes on José “Chiquiro” Martínez of Puerto Rico for the North American Boxing Organization (NABO) Super Flyweight Title.
The “Boxeo Telemundo Ford” season is broadcast live on Telemundo and live streamed on Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app, and complemented with extensive news and content on TelemundoDeportes.com, including access to the weigh-in and exclusive behind the scenes content. “Boxeo Telemundo Ford,” the longest-running boxing program on U.S. Spanish-language television, debuted in 1989. Since then it has showcased more than 50 world champions, including Erik Morales, Felix Tito Trinidad, Wilfredo Vazquez, Hall of Famer Daniel Zaragoza, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, Oscar “Chololo” Larios and Israel “El Magnifico” Vazquez, earning a reputation as the show “where champions are born.”
