By Scott Gilfoid: In an official statement from heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and his team has announced that he’s been declared “medically unfit” to fight next month against challenger Wladimir Klitschko in their scheduled fight on October 29 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. As such, the Fury-Klitschko fight will NOT go ahead. The weird part of the statement from Team Fury is why they’re not revealing what’s wrong with him. Normally when a fighter is injured, they reveal what the problem is.

Fury’s injury is unknown still at this point. We should be hearing something soon hopefully. Team Fury says they will have further news to reveal to the boxing world soon about Fury’s condition.

This is the second time the 28-year-old Fury has pulled out of a fight against Klitschko. Fury was supposed to fight Klitschko on July 9, but the fight was postponed after Fury suffered a foot injury.

This is such a sad situation. Fury suffers yet another injury and the boxing fans aren’t even sure what the injury is. You’ve got 40-year-old Wladimir waiting and waiting for his chance to avenge his loss to Fury, and still not getting a chance. It’s got to be tough on Wladimir. He’s not young, and losing a year out of his career waiting for Fury to finally get healthy enough to fight. This is so bad. What do you do when you’ve got a fighter like Fury who can’t make it into the ring because of injuries? Wladimir is aging while waiting for Fury to get healthy enough to fight.

There is no word yet from the sanctioning bodies whether they plan on stripping Fury of his IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles. Fury already lost his International Boxing Federation title when he was unable to face Charles Martin.

Here’s part of the statement from Fury and his team:

“Tyson has, this week, been declared medically unfit to fight. Medical specialists have advised that the condition is too severe to allow him to participate in the rematch and that he will require treatment before going back into the ring. Tyson will now immediately undergo the treatment he needs to make a full recovery.”

Well, there it is. Fury “medically unfit to fight.” Just how Fury suffered the injury is a mystery to all the boxing fans. Is it a lingering problem with Fury’s foot? There’s been no reports of Fury limping around, so perhaps it’s another injury.
