By Eric Baldwin: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) says he’s putting his entire focus on his next opponent Kell Brook, because Carl Froch, Chris Eubank Jr., Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders are acting like clowns. Golovkin says that what makes these fighters similar to clowns is the talking they’re doing but then not fighting. Golovkin says they have no respect.

Golovkin might get a fight one of these days against Canelo, but he’s likely the only one of the bunch that will ever fight him. Saunders doesn’t seem to be truly interested in facing him.

Eubank Jr. probably would fight Golovkin if not for his father negotiating tough. Golovkin won’t wait around for ages to try and put together a fight against Eubank Jr. because he wants to be able to get in a lot of fights per year. He can’t do that if the negotiations drag out too long.

“Just too much talking about fighting me, Canelo, Eubank, Saunders, Froch they are acting like clowns with no respect for the sport,” said Golovkin.” I’m here now; sign the contract and fight me, any of them, doesn’t matter which one.”

Some of those fighters may face Golovkin at some point in his career when he starts to age and lose his skills. It appears that’s what Canelo is going to do. Eubank Jr. is hard to predict what he’ll do. The only thing that you can predict with Eubank Jr. is that he’ll keep defending his British title.

If all it took was for Golovkin to say, ‘sign the contract,’ then he would have fought those guys a long time ago. If guys like Canelo, Froch, Eubank Jr. and Saunders truly wanted to fight Triple G, then they would have fought him a long time ago.

The fact that they haven’t signed to fight him suggests that they might not take the fight ever unless Golovkin sticks around a long time in the sport until he’s lost and not the fight he was years ago.

Golovkin needs to make sure he puts his whole attention on Brook, because if he doesn’t concentrate he could lose the fight. Brook is a tough opponent, and he’s going to have a great game plan. His team has looked the fight over and they’ve spotted the weakness in his game. Golovkin has a lot of holes in his game defensibly that Brook could take advantage of on September 10 o give him his first loss of his career.

Golovkin would be far better off if he stopped thinking about Saunders, Canelo, Froch and Eubank Jr. It’s not worth it for Golovkin to focus on fighters that have no interest in fighting him. Golovkin seems to have different goals than the guys that he mentions. He’s thinking of boxing as a sport, and it appears that some of the guys that he considers to be clowns are seeing it more as a business. For this reason, they’re being strategic with their careers in taking on opposition that they feel confident of beating.
