By Patrick McHugh: Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola is one of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s many fans, as he’s looking forward to his potential upcoming fight against Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs) in September if the fight gets made. Arreola sees the fight as a stylistic match-up involving Golovkin’s “Mexican style” of fighting going up against Eubank Jr’s “boxer” style.

Arreola isn’t saying which of the two will win the fight, but it would seem that he believes Golovkin will do the job. Arreola sees GGG as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport right now. Eubank Jr. isn’t seen as the top guy by boxing fans. He’s more of an unfinished product with a lot of potential and a great of unknowns with his game.

“That guys a beast, man,” said Arreola about Golovkin to Michelle Phelps. “He’s not just a beat for what he does inside the ring. He’s more of a beat for what he does inside the gym. He works hard, dude. He does this one exercise with cattle bells. He gets the heaviest one and turns it around. That’s why that guy has such a strong punch, man. I think he’s the best pound-for-pound fighter out there right now. I don’t think there’s no one above him. No one comes close to him right now,” said Arreola.

When asked about his opinion of the Golovkin vs. Eubank Jr. fight, Arreola said, “That’ll be a pretty entertaining fight. It could be a stylistic fight. I see Eubank as more of a boxer, and Triple G with his Mexican style,” said Arreola.

Golovkin and Eubank Jr. are looking to sign the contract for their fight. The fight could get made this week.

“My pen is in my hand ready and waiting to sign as soon as I get the contract. Don’t you worry about that,” said Eubank Jr. on his social media site.

This could be a fight of the year candidate or it could be another mismatch like many of Golovkin’s fights. The last competitive fight involving Golovkin was against Kassim Ouma five years ago in June 2011. That was a grueling fight for Golovkin with him taking a lot of punishment along the way before scoring a stoppage win.

Golovkin’s Mexican style will result in him putting a great deal of pressure on Eubank Jr. for as long as this fight lasts. Eubank Jr. will need to show early that he can handle the pressure otherwise he’ll be taken out quickly.
