By Jeff Aranow: In an easy victory, IBF lightweight champion Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (25-0, 13 KOs) stayed unbeaten with a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision victory over former IBF champion Mickey Bey (22-2-1, 10 KOs) on Friday night on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV from the Hard Rock Live Arena at the Seminole Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The only real exciting event in the entire 12 round fight was 2nd round knockdown Bey was credited at the end of the round. The referee Sam Burghos failed to see that Bey had clashed heads with the 29-year-old Barthelemy and that was the reason why he hit the deck.

Barthelemy kept his composure after the knockdown and came back to dominate the last 10 rounds with his pressure, jab and combination punching. Barthelemy simply outworked Bey and that was the key to his win.

The final judges’ scores were 117-110, 116-111 and 117-110.

Barthelemy is going to need to decide whether he wants to keep his IBF title or not, because if he does, then he’ll need to face unbeaten Richard Commey (24-0, 22 KOs). That’s a tough fight for Barthelemy because he’s not a big puncher like Commey. Barthelemy is easy to hit and he would need to get hit with a lot of shots for him to have a chance of winning that fight. Before tonight’s fight there was talk that Barthelemy would be moving up to light welterweight. If that turns out to be the case, then it’ll work out good for him because he can avoid the fight with Commey.

Undefeated middleweight prospect Caleb Plant (13-0, 10 KOs) scored a sudden 4th round knockout over Carlos Galvan (12-5-1, 11 KOs). Plan dropped Galvan with a hard left to the body that put him down on his face on the canvas.

Before the knockdown, Plant wasn’t looking all that great. He was controlling the fight, but he was getting backed up and struggling. It looked like Plant’s lack of hand speed and his bad habit of fighting with his hands down by his sides made it a harder fight than it needed to be.
