1-About Billions Training Camp _Training camp_Dave Nadkarni _ Premier Boxing ChampionsBy Jeff Aranow: The Spike TV card on April 1 will still go ahead if WBA light welterweight champion Adrien Broner (31-2, 23 KOs) is unable to fight on the card against challenger Ashley Theophane (39-6-1, 11 KOs), according to Dan Rafael.

Broner, 26, is dealing with legal problems for his alleged felony assault and robbery charges for an incident that allegedly took place on January 21 in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. There are reportedly arrest warrants out on Broner.

Given all the publicity of Broner’s fight on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV for Friday, April 1, there’s always the possibility that the Broner-Theophane fight could get canceled. That would be bad news for fans, and definitely bad for the 35-year-old Theophane.

Theophane has been waiting his entire career for a world title shot. Now that he’s about to get his crack at a world title and a nice payday, the fight could get potentially get canceled if Broner is arrested before or on April 1.

“Per Spike Sports, live #boxing will go on next Friday night whether the Broner bout is canceled or not,” said Rafael on Twitter.

This is supposed to be Broner’s first defense of his world title.

Broner allegedly robbed a man with a gun after a game of bowling on January 21. Broner was said to have been gambling on the games with the man, and losing. The charges against Broner are things to be taken seriously. If Broner is arrested and convicted for the alleged assault and robbery, he could wind up out of action for a consider amount of time.

Until recently, things were going well for Broner. He captured the vacant WBA light welterweight title last October with a 12th round knockout win over of Khabib Allakhverdiev. This was a good win for Broner, as he arguably didn’t deserve to fight for a world title after having lost his previous fight against Shawn porter last year in June.

Besides Broner having lost his previous fight, Allakhverdiev had lost his previous fight, and had been out of the ring for an entire year. The fight itself seemed almost illegitimate because neither guy seemed to deserve the shot at the title.
