By Bryce Wilson: Southland Stadium, Invercargill. In a night of right hands undefeated Polish prospect Izu Ugonoh opened the show with a highlight reel KO of William Quarrie to extend his record to 13(10)-0.

A noticeably relaxed Ugonoh began the 1st round establishing a strong jab which he began to double up in the second round along with some crisp shots to the body followed by a laser-like HUGE right hand at the end of the round to leave Quarrie motionless on the canvass for several minutes and unable to regroup.

Both Ugonoh and trainer Kevin Barry stated after the fight that Ugonoh’s next opponent scheduled for October 15th will be a definite step-up in class for the powerful Pole and will possibly be for a regional title.

In the main undercard fight unbeaten Aussie welterweight sensation Jeff ‘The Hornet’ Horn 10(8)-0-1 took on tough Ukrainian Viktor Plotnykov 32(15)-2 in a lopsided encounter that saw Horn have his way with Plotnykov hitting him at will with jabs, body shots and right hands until a nasty cut to Horn’s eyebrow suffered in the 6th round from a clash of heads saw the fight eventually stopped in the 7th with Horn winning comfortably on points.

In the main event world rated heavyweight Joseph Parker 14(12)-0 sent another compelling message to the rest of the heavyweight division with a savage knockout of Bowie Tupou 25(17)-3 only one minute and three seconds into the first round.

Tupou started the fight in frenetic fashion looking to land a big bomb in a desperate effort to manufacture the upset. After initially exchanging Parker took a step back and began to control the fight with his world class jab before landing a destructive right hand of his own that saw Tupou lying motionless on the canvas and the fight immediately waved off.

Following the fight Parker and his team indicated that they will be looking to name a highly ranked opponent to face Parker within the next week.
