By John Simmons:

Today we had the privilege of watching the ESPY Awards and the winners were certainly grinners. One winner in fact took the whole experience to another level by taking aim at someone else they were up against for an award.

That award was the ‘Fighter of year’ and the winner was none other than Ronda Rousey the UFC Women’s champion and current Hollywood regular. During the award ceremony Ronda Rousey was being interviewed by ESPN and made a comment in the direction of P4P Boxing Champion Floyd “money” Mayweather in regards to his domestic violence background and the fact that he said he didn’t know who Ronda Rousey was.

This kind of behaviour is disturbing from Ronda mainly because Ronda Rousey has been an avid supporter of convicted rapist and female abuser Mike Tyson and this has never been something Ronda has raised publicly with the media in regards to Mike. Legions of female fans are applauding her stance on the Floyd Mayweather issue but not holding her accountable for the other affiliations she has with convicted female abusers in her sport and her life. Ronda was very close and comfortable with her sparring partner and friend Gennady Golovkin.

During the Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao fight lead up Ronda Rousey and Gennady Golovkin both visited Manny Pacquiao showing support for their friend and fellow fighter as did Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao has recently come out and ridiculed Floyd for his past behaviours. While Mike Tyson has not ridiculed Floyd over his past he has been outspoken about Floyd as a person and the fact that he doesn’t like Floyd.

Mike Tyson is an avid UFC supporter and shows his face at many fights throughout the year especially those of Ronda Rousey and Freddy Roach the trainer of Manny Pacquiao has spent time in the gym showing Ronda some Boxing moves in order to help her win so the union is definitely strong between all parties. The move Gennady Golovkin’s management has made to propel him to the top of Boxing are starting to become clear having improved his English, rehoused him in the USA, had him making appearances on various talk shows to even nominating him for an ESPY Award and telling all that will listen that he is the most feared man in Boxing.

Gennady Golovkin is also chasing the Floyd Mayweather fight lottery and although many believe he will never get it this hasn’t stopped the Middleweight king using Floyd Mayweather’s name in just about every interview he does. Early last year Dana White came out and knew exactly what to say in an interview with the media while he was trying to further sell his female champion and the words Floyd Mayweather proved to be his blue chip. Amir Kahn has manage to convince the world that he alone is the one to beat Floyd Mayweather his speed and style too strong for the Welterweight legend, and Amir Khan also has no shortage of Floyd Mayweather quotes to start and finish his interviews.

Keith Thurman has also showed his desire to make mention of the man that sits above him and owns the divisions most sacred titles. Floyd Mayweather on the other hand doesn’t like to mention any fighters names as a matter of fact he regularly miss pronounces fighters names he has spend many a time with almost like a way of saying I don’t need to name drop but if I act like they are insignificant that makes me more significant and when asked about other fighters before him he says the same quote every time “ they are good fighters I take my hat off to them they paved the way for me” even when asked about people that dislike him like Mike Tyson he says the same thing.

The UFC debate is apples and oranges and no matter how much you try to debate it you can never win, any boxer with no wrestling or grappling background in history in a cage with any female UFC fighter stands to lose the fights if she manages to not get his cleanly and get him on the ground to submit again “any boxer any female”. With that said any female fighter even with a boxing background stands to be defeated if she was to fight any male champion in the ring today big or small light or heavy even if she were challenge a professional female boxer.

Where people like Dana White get themselves in a tangle is their devotion to their sport while they love the UFC and MMA neither are street fighting both have regulated rules that outline what can and cannot be done in the cage or ring both have referees making sure no one is killed. In the street there is no referee and like Hulk Hogan says no holds barred, you can bite and elbow private parts and eye gouge or poke eyes out with fingers head butt faces and jump on heads while they are down and out. So clearly the debate about in the street is as farfetched as any debate or as I said earlier apples and oranges.

This has not managed to deter the UFC from regularly speaking about boxers especially Floyd Mayweather in regards to Jon Jones and other alike. The fact that Youtube is filled with rants from Ronda Rousey, Gennady Golovkin, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao and Dana White in regards to Floyd Mayweather shows exactly how dropping a famous person’s name will help your career evolve.
