By Adam Beechers: Current WBO European champion Frank Buglioni  16(12)-1-1 remains positive of fighting  World champion Fedor Chudinov 13(10)-0 despite him cancelling their fight for the WBA super middleweight strap. The contest was scheduled for Frank Warren’s card tonight at The SSE Arena, Wembley but the Russian pulled out citing a facial injury.

Buglioni, 26, is fully confident that his promoter has got a date set for the Autumn and says he will be better due to the extra time to prepare. Instead of the World championship fight initially scheduled Buglioni will have to steer past Mexican Fernando Castaneda 23(14)-9 in order to keep the match up alive.

“Things happen and you have to roll with the punches.” Said Buglioni to Kugan Cassius and IFLTV.

“I’ve taken all the positives,  I get to take another 7 weeks training after my fight and practice what I’ve been doing in the gym. All the frustrations and disappointment will be taken out on this Mexican fighter. This is my World title in front of me and that is all I care about right now. I had a bad feeling about him cancelling. I had a great spar and that evening I found out and I got the news. I kind of knew as everything didn’t feel right. They have honored their agreement and the fight has been made. The opportunity is still there and I will win this fight and then become world champion.”

There was some confusion surrounding the cancellation and scheduling of the rematch as German promoters Sauerland tweeted that a fight had been agreed between their young fighter Vincent Feigenbutz 20(19)-1 and Chudinov. Buglioni believes that their intentions to fight are for after their bout but intends to make sure that fight never happens.

“That fight won’t be happening. They have signed a worthless contract as I’ll be beating Chudinov and I’ll be World champion. If they feel they have overlooked me then so be it. I’m not looking further that the fight against Castaneda and then it’s Chudniov. Without beating him their is no World title fight.”

It will be an interesting test for him as he looks to step up to World level. The man from Enfield, London has never mixed it with anyone of note and recently drew against lowly ranked Frank Markham as he defended his WBO European championship for the 2nd time. He also suffered a loss against the highly rated Sergey Khomistsky by TKO in the 6th. But Buglioni is a solid British fighter and if he produces the class he is capable of then he should give Chudinov a tough fight. He can’t look past tonight’s opponent who interestingly fought his last bout at cruiserweight coming in at 195lbs but the 26 year old has been stopped 4 times in his 9 defeats. It should be a straight forward win for ‘Wise Guy’ Buglioni but he will be giving away a lot of weight against the Mexican who weighed in 7lbs over the 168 limit.
