pac7654By Chris Williams: In response to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s recent Instagram showing his asking readers which sunglasses or shoes he should pick from his cram-filled display racks, Manny Pacquiao decided to take a shot at him on Monday with his own Instagram account by saying that Mayweather is bragging about his lifestyle and that Pacquiao doesn’t care. He’s just waiting for Mayweather to put his signature on the contract for a fight between them in 2015.

“Floyd brags about his lifestyle and everything! I don’t care,” Pacquiao said on his Instagram. “I’m just waiting here for him to sign the contract.”

Pacquiao’s comments could be interpreted by some to show a growing frustration with the negotiation process. Instead of staying calm and understanding that slow progress is common for negotiations, Pacquiao appears to be lashing out at Mayweather instead of staying quiet and waiting.

Pacquiao could help the process go a little quicker if he were to light a fire under his promoter Bob Arum’s backside by telling him to agree to whatever the current offer is from Mayweather for their fight including the fight date. If the negotiations are going slow right now then it’s obviously a sign that there’s some friction going on with what both fighters are asking for in terms of the purse split.

There’s nothing wrong with Mayweather showing off his beautiful possessions and his wonderful lifestyle to his many fans. People want to know how he lives, and all he’s doing is satisfying their curiosity by showing off the things he has, the people he surrounds himself and the way he lives. The way that Mayweather does these things is preferable to the way that some fighters do it with them having their team write press releases about them.

At least with Mayweather, he’s directly interacting with his fans and that’s a refreshing thing, I think.

Pacquiao could have gotten the fight with Mayweather six years ago when the two of them first started trying to negotiate a fight. If Pacquiao had agreed to the blood testing that Mayweather was asking for the fight would have taken place, and Pacquiao would have got a 50-50 purse split. He’s obviously not going to get a purse split like that for this fight.

That’s definitely not going to happen. Looking back at things, it was definitely a missed opportunity for Pacquiao and Arum for not signing for the fight back then. Let’s hope that Pacquiao doesn’t miss out on another fight with Mayweather for whatever reason.
