Mayweather-Pacquiao: The bigger

pac645By Jon Ingram: It’s easy to write how Floyd Mayweather Jr is the favorite when it comes to I don’t know everyone he faces of late. His next opponent, soon to be announced Manny Pacquiao will make the exception no different.

Instead of this being the ole regular chicken noodle soup you have to intake after reading the same stuff that make you sick. How about we add some veggies and chicken chunks.

This is not some hyped up opponent that Floyd will be fighting, this is actually an opponent that I believe has a very legit shot at beating the champ.

No matter if you like him or not, Floyd has been the best and on top of the game reaching about 20 years now. In all of that time, he has only come across a handful “1 hand” of opponents that have gave him a run for his money. It doesn’t matter the dispute of if you think he may have lost or not in any fight, his record still has that 0. Pacman should be honored for he may be the last true opponent to get a crack at Floyd who has a true legitimate chance of beating him. In this fight no one is trying to make a name for themselves, no one is trying to get a belt, get on pay-per-view, this fight is all about legacy.

Without each other, they both still make the Hall of Fame easily, but anyone who says that one fighter don’t need the other doesn’t understand in the slightest how the biggest fight in the history of FIGHTING “ever” will be made if Floyd and Manny take the ring.

Being a part of the biggest fight ever speaks more volumes then words could explain. I’d go as far to say that no one living at this second in time will see a bigger fight.

Since we all know about Floyd being favored, let’s talk about a possible upset. Indeed it would be an upset if Floyd was to lose to Manny, but I’m not sure how highly I would rank it. I don’t know if it would truly shock the boxing world or not. I mean, for the last 10 years, give or take some years there have been two names that come to mind 1st when we spoke boxing, Mayweather and Pacquiao. With the exception of Juan Manuel Marquez who had the key to Pacquiao’s Pandora’s box, nobody of late has been able to come close to opening up Pacquiao’s box. No one, since turning professional has been able to crack Mayweather’s code either. So when looking at this fight, and looking at the opponents, I don’t see anyone getting outclassed in this fight.

I don’t think the fight will not come down to who’s the better boxer/fighter, but instead who has the better plan B and plan C. Both fighters will have to adapt, for Pacquiao will have to adjust to Floyd’s reach advantage, jabs to the body, Floyd’s movement, and Floyd will have to adjust to Manny’s speed, power, and work rate. Which trainer will have the better game plan? You have to believe Freddie Roach been watching Floyd since Pacquiao been a treat, and same goes for Roger and Floyd Sr. The boxer that comes in with the better game plan will probably be the one who gets his hand raised.

Whatever happens in this fight we can all just hope that it goes all the way through, and once it does, it’s at least 2x as entertaining as the arguments that me and everyone reading this has had over the past 4 to 5 years or so. Let there be no disputes, and if it’s close, let’s get the rematch as well, and then we could finally put arguably the biggest sport argument to rest, and that is the bigger story.
