By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao met up with each other at tonight’s Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks game in Miami. Pacquiao briefly had words with Mayweather on the court, and they both appeared to agree on something. Whether that be on the fight or something else is unknown, but it sure looks like they agreed to a fight between them.

I’m no lip reader, but I think Pacquiao was apologizing to Mayweather in their brief meeting. Whatever Mayweather said shut Pacquiao down immediately. Pacquiao definitely seemed happy with what he heard from Mayweather.

You can see the embarrassed look on Pacquiao’s face as the two of them ended their conversation. It was if Mayweather reassured Pacquiao that the fight will go down on May 2nd, and Pacquiao was looking uncomfortable about having spoken to him about it. Mayweather has been pretty clear from the jump that he wants the Pacquiao fight, so the whole meeting wasn’t even necessary.

With Pacquiao showing up at the Heat game, you have to figure that this was by design in order for him to confront Mayweather, because it was already understood that Mayweather was going to be attending the Heat game tonight. By Pacquiao showing up unexpectedly like this, it comes across like an ambush of Mayweather, as if it were really needed.

Mayweather wants the fight just as much as Pacquiao, but he’s not going to sign away everything in a foolish manner in order to get the fight. Mayweather obviously has his management team going through point by point in the deal memo that was forwarded to him by Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum.

Pacquiao showing up at the Heat game can be interpreted as him being a little pushy in trying to make sure he gets the fight with Mayweather. I wonder which of Pacquiao’s team came up with the idea for him to go to the same game that Mayweather was attending. Would it be his promoter Bob Arum by any chance or his personal adviser Michael Koncz?

Whatever the case, Mayweather obviously wants the fight, and he’s not running from Pacquiao. You can see that in the comments that Mayweather has made recently. He knows that boxing fans want to see him fight Pacquiao, and that’s why he decided to give the fans what they wanted.

In looking at Mayweather and Pacquiao standing eye to eye, you can immediately see how much bigger Mayweather is compared to Pacquiao. Mayweather is not only taller, but he looks like the much bigger guy. If two of them had squared off and started throwing blows right then that there, I think Mayweather’s size would give him a huge advantage over Pacquiao.

The only thing potentially stopping the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight from happening right now is them running out of time in the negotiations due to Pacquiao’s deadline of January 31st. If there’s still items that Mayweather needs to study in the deal memo after January 31st, it’ll be too late because is saying he’ll be walking out on the negotiations at that point. I see deadline by Pacquiao as potentially being the cause of the fight not happening.

The good that can come out of this meeting is that Mayweather might finally get Pacquiao off his back with his hounding comments of “sign the contract,” which as Dan Rafael pointed out earlier, doesn’t even exist yet. The contract hasn’t even been born. They’re still dealing with memos being passed back and forth rather than a contract that’s waiting to be signed.
