fury55By Scott Gilfoid: Weighing with his clothes on today, a bearded Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KOs) weighed in at 264 pounds for his rematch against Dereck Chisora (20-4, 14 KOs) on Saturday night at the ExCel Arena in London, UK.

Chisora will be defending his EBU heavyweight strap, and the vacant British heavyweight strap will be on the line. The most important thing up for grabs for this fight is the WBO eliminator. The winner of the Chisora-Fury 2 fight will be the WBO mandatory to champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury, 26, is going to need to shave off his long lumberjack beard by the time he steps foot inside the ring on Saturday night, because there’s no way the boxing officials are going to let him fight with a long beard like that.

For his part, Chisora weighed in at 241.5 pounds. Chisora looked to be in better shape than Fury, but that might not matter given Chisora’s lack of height and reach. If he’s unable to land his rabbit punches, then there’s no way on earth Chisora will win this fight. I mean, he’s just too short and too limited to beat the 6’9″ Fury. It’s nice that Chisora finally took off the extra blubber that he’s been carrying around, but I don’t see it helping him here.

The Chisora-Fury fight is pretty much picking out Wladimir’s next victim. I’d like to see it another way, but I just can’t. Neither of these guys match up with WLadimir, and we’re basically just looking for Wladimir’s next KO victim.

Other weights for the card:

Billy Joe Saunders 159.7 vs. Chris Eubank Jr 159.25
Frankie Gavin 146.5 vs. Bradley Skeete 146.25

The Eubank Jr-Saunders fight should be a decent one. The winner of the fight will wind up fighting the winner of the December match-up between #1 WBO Matt Korobov and #3 Andy Lee. Korobov figures to be the bet fighter of that bunch, and I cant see Eubank Jr, Lee or Saunders being able to match up with him in the talent department.

The Chisora-Fury 2 fight will be aired on ESPN3 on Saturday, which will give U.S boxing fans an opportunity to see the fight if interested.
