Washington, D.C. City Council Honors Dusty Hernandez-Harrison

Dusty Hernandez-Harrison, who is fighting November 1 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, was formally recognized in a Washington, D.C. ceremony with a “2014 Recognition Resolution” by the Council of the District of Columbia. By unanimous vote, the Council of the District of Columbia congratulated Hernandez-Harrison on his many accomplishments as a professional boxer, his current WBC Youth Welterweight World Champion title and his contributions to the residents of Washington, D.C. and its communities both in and out of the ring.

Following background and introductions by Councilmember Yvette Alexander, Hernandez-Harrison said, “It’s an honor to receive recognition from a City that I love so much.”

The Recognition by the D.C. Council kicks off a week highlighting the highly anticipated return of Hernandez-Harrison, 20, to his hometown. Hernandez-Harrison is 23-0 (12 KOs) faces veteran Michael Clark (44-11-1, 18KO) of Columbus, OH in the ten round Main Event of the November 1 Hometown Takeover card. Also featured on the card are Jarrett Hurd who is facing Terry Cade of Aiken, SD in a 6-round junior middleweight match and Larry Recio, who will take on Roberto Lopez of Vineland, NJ in a 6-round junior middleweight bout.

The Hometown Takeover Weigh In will be held on Friday, October 31 at 3:00pm at TKO Burger in Northeast D.C. The weigh in is open to the public. Main event fighters, Hernandez-Harrison and Clark, will step on the scales at 4:00pm and the stacked undercard of D.C., Maryland and Virginia fighters will face off with their opponents in front of the media and fans starting at 3:30pm.
