Floyd Mayweather Jr needs to fight Pacquiao

floyd002By Yannis Mihanos: So far Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) during his career has remained unmatched and of course very, very rich.

For many boxers this would have been an amazing feat if of course no cherry picking was ever involved. Because someone cherry picks not only with whom he selects but also with whom he avoids and this is what hurts Floyd’s otherwise infallible career.

This is not an accusation but in my opinion a valid statement.

The fact is that all these years Manny Pacquiao has been embarrassing Mayweather. Not so much in terms of outstanding performances (he lost unjustly to Tim Bradley and very ugly to Juan Manuel Marquez) but in terms of being there and making himself available as an opponent.

Some fans were angry with the decision of Pacquiao to extend his contract with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and said that he has put the final nail in the coffin on ever making this fight to happen.

I honestly don’t believe that. It is still up to Floyd to decide.

Boxing fans from around the world demand from Floyd to have a change of heart and fight Manny.

To finally cut the talking and get going. People have been tired of the excuses he keeps making up.

It is also my opinion that if they ever meet, Pacquiao will win Mayweather and I will explain why I believe that.

It’s for the same reason that in the world of tennis the former world number 1 and legend Roger Federer has lost so many times by his rival Rafael Nadal: It is called Fear.

Most boxing writers analyze skills and count other statistics but often neglect this simple opinion: Floyd is afraid of Manny.

Directly speaking it’s not a matter of who out of these two is the best or who is the most talented but who has the bigger will to win.

It comes a time where the difference comes not from skills but from sheer determination to win in other words: the eye of the tiger.

Both fighters Floyd and Manny have had a remarkable careers, but it comes a time where all predictions and stats must end.

In the end only one can win the fight. In the end to only one the referee will lift the hand.

I will finish this article with two questions that I may expand on them in articles in the near future and you too dear fan, you might express your opinion, whatever it maybe is accepted.

Will a defeat by Pacquiao ruin Mayweather’s legacy?

Will Pacquiao’s legacy be affected from a loss out of the hands of Mayweather?
