stevens6By Allan Fox: Former WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam (30-1, 18 KOs) weighed in at 158.8 pounds for his fight on Wednesday night against #3 WBC, #6 IBF, #6 WBO, #14 WBA Curtis Stevens (27-4, 20 KOs) for their scheduled 12 round fight at the Barker Hangar, in Santa Monica, California, USA.

Stevens, 29, weighed in at 158.2 pounds. The Stevens vs. N’Dam fight will be televised on ESPN2 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.

#7 IBF, #14 WBC, #15 WBA N’Dam is badly in need of a big win over Stevens to get himself pushed up the rankings because he’s still too far down in the rankings to get a title shot. N’Dam, 30, lost his WBO middleweight title in getting beaten by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision to Peter Quillin two years ago in October of 2012 in a fight in which N’Dam was knocked down six times by Quillin.

N’Dam did well in the rounds which he wasn’t knocked down in, but the problem is he couldn’t take Quillin’s power shots. Since the loss to Quillin, N’Dam has beaten Anthony Fitzgerald, Ricardo Marcelo Ramallo and Fulgencio Zuniga.

Those aren’t great fighters, and N’Dam is going to have to prove that he can take the big power shots that Stevens is hitting him with from time to time. N’Dam isn’t going to be able to run from him the entire fight without Stevens catching up to him to nail him with his big power shots.

Stevens is coming off of what has to be seen as the hardest fight of his career in his 10th round TKO win over Tureano Johnson last April. Before that fight, Stevens had been knocked out in the 8th round by Gennady Golovkin last year in November. But Stevens took a lot more punishment in the Johnson fight than he did against Golovkin before coming on late to score a 10th round stoppage over Johnson.

With the punishment that Stevens took in both the Johnson and Golovkin fight there’s a possibility he might not be at 100% for the N’Dam fight. We’re going to find out if Stevens can hold up under the shots from N’Dam, who is a good puncher when he stands his ground and sits down on his shots.

Also on tomorrow night’s card is the following fights:

Maxim Vlasov vs. Isiah Thomas
Fredrick Lawson vs. Ray Narh
Miguel Marriaga vs. Christopher Martin
Isa Akberbayev vs. Geovanni Sarran
Sergiy Derevyanchenko vs. Laatekwei Hammond
