Payano defeats Anselmo Moreno

Deerfield Beach, FL (September 30, 2014) This past Friday night in the Dallas, Texas suburb of Mesquite, JUAN CARLOS PAYANO won the WBA “Super” Bantamweight Crown from longtime champion ANSELMO MORENO via sixth round technical decision.

Boxing legend and Payano promoter MIKE TYSON of IRON MIKE PRODUCTIONS was thrilled with Payano’s performance.

“Juan Carlos truly seized the moment. He had the opportunity of a lifetime and he attacked Moreno from the opening bell,” said Tyson.

“Our entire team is very proud of Juan Carlos, the spirit of his performance and his success typifies Iron Mike fighters.”

Said Chris Middendorf, Vice-President of Iron Mike Productions, “Friday night saw the emergence of a very exciting, all action new world champion. He fits perfectly the Iron Mike mold, almost racing across the ring to begin every round, throwing close to 100 punches and connecting.”

“Payano joins with IMP’s young rising stars, Erickson Lubin, Ievgen Khytrov and Sammy Vasquez, as fighters who are going to become must see fighters. There is no taking time off in a round, and no taking a round off, their fights are all about getting the other guy the hell out of there. For our fans it is ‘edge of your seat’ boxing- put your drink down, throw the scorecards away and get ready to stand up and cheer the action. Congratulations Juan Carlos!”

Josh Warrington: I’ll bring Euro glory to Leeds

osh Warrington insists he is ready for the biggest fight of his career to date when he faces Davide Diele for the vacant European Featherweight title at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday (October 4) live on Sky Sports in association with Grosvenor Casinos.

The Leeds star has personally shifted close to 2,000 tickets for Saturday’s show, and the 23 year old tastes international opposition for the first time in the shape of the Italian – and he is tasking the hometown faithful with creating a hostile atmosphere for the visitor.

“This is definitely the biggest fight of my career tonight beyond any doubt,” said Warrington. “We’re going to have double the number that was here for the Lindsay fight, it’s going to be very noisy and hostile, and when you look at the bill with Ricky Burns, Brian Rose, Callum Smith and Tyrone Nurse, it’s an amazing card and I am topping it, that’s something special and there’s pressure to go with that. But to land the European belt will be a dream come true.

“Diele has been there and done it, he’s an experienced guy and the number one mandatory to fight for the title, so I am not taking an easy option here. He comes forward, he’s busy, and he likes a scrap so it’s going to be an entertaining fight. He’s in the way of something that I have dreamt about in the bath, aching, after nights of training, thinking about how my career will go, bringing European glory to Leeds in Leeds will be something special. It’s a big coup to have the fight here, he’s going to walk into a very, very hostile atmosphere and I’ve told the fans to make it as noisy as possible and it’s not going to be nice for him to have 6,000 mental Leeds people going berserk, it’ll be loud and they will be my twelfth man.

“Preparations have been great, the camp has gone really well, I’ve had some excellent sparring, the strength and conditioning has been superb and it means I feel the strongest that I have ever felt and ready to show that tonight.

“I’ve been to Manchester and Bolton a lot and got some quality sparring in with Scott Quigg, Stephen Smith, Jamie and Gavin McDonnell and Maxi Hughes, the list goes on and on, we’ve had some great sparring and a lot of rounds so I am very sharp and very confident. We’ve been working on a few new things and have a few game-plans up our sleeves for Diele.”

Warrington’s clash with Dieli is part of a great night of action in Leeds which also features the return of former two-weight World champion Ricky Burns who makes his debut at Light Welterweight against Leonardo Gonzalez. Light Middleweight World title challenger Brian Rose returns to the ring against Juan Manuel Bonanni, unbeaten Super Middleweight sensation Callum Smith defends his WBC International title and Tyrone Nurse fights for the vacant Commonwealth Light Welterweight title.

“Renegade” Robles Back in San Diego!

After starting off his year back in February with a come from behind win over Olympian Yordenis Ugas to capture the interim WBC Latino light welterweight title and then continuing with another triumph, this time over the highly-touted Jonathan Chicas, San Diego’s own Emmanuel “Renegade” Robles (11-0-1, 3KO) is looking to remain undefeated against the tough Carlos “El Guerrero” Valenzuela (6-1, 3KO) in the eight round main event of “San Diego Fights” presented by Bobby D. Presents. The professional boxing fight card will be held on Friday, October 24th, at the new home for San Diego boxing, the Crowne Plaza Hanalei Hotel, in Mission Valley.

Facing a much more experienced and technical fighter, Robles, with his hometown crowd behind him, was able to upset Ugas at the Crowne Plaza Hotel via a ten round split decision to capture the regional WBC belt. Five months later Robles traveled north for the first time in his career to face Chicas in San Francisco. Knowing that Chicas was ripe for a hometown decision, the southpaw Robles promptly put him down with a well-placed uppercut in the seventh en route to a split decision eight round win. Now Robles will look to cap off another exciting win where it started this year, at home.

In a special attraction female eight rounder, newly crowned NABF strawweight queen Amaris “Diamond Girl” Quintana (8-2-2, 1KO) also returns to her hometown of San Diego after traveling south to Tijuana to defeated Susana Uribe for the vacant North American Boxing Federation female strap. Quintana dropped her early with a left hook but then wasn’t able to find that punch once again but still clearly dominated the fight to earn a unanimous decision and a top ten WBC ranking. Quintana will now fight in front of her hometown crowd and show off her shiny new toy in a non-title fight against an opponent to be determined.
