Pacquiao says Mayweather won’t fight him because he’s protecting his unbeaten record

pac77777By Chris Williams: Despite WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao having been told what he had to do in order to get a fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr by leaving Top Rank, Pacquiao still isn’t giving up trying to get a fight against him.

Pacquiao is now saying Mayweather won’t fight him because he’s guarding his unbeaten record. Pacquiao thinks that Mayweather is trying to avoid taking a loss, and that’s why he’s not fighting him.

I’m not sure that Mayweather is shaking in his boots at the thought of fighting someone who has lost 2 out of his last 4 fights like Pacquiao has.

“Why he will not fight me? Well, I think he is worried about his (undefeated) record. He talks about his zero losses. The zero that means so much to him means nothing when measured against who he fought,” Pacquiao said to NJ.com.”

So according to Pacquiao, Mayweather is so worried about getting beaten by him, he’d rather avoid the fight. It makes no sense at all, because Mayweather has already recently fought Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto, both of which would likely knock Pacquiao out unless they had to drain down to 147 in order to give Pacquiao a catch-weight handicap.

At 154, Pacquiao would likely be in a world of hurt against Canelo and Cotto. Pacquiao’s hand speed isn’t as good now, and he wouldn’t be getting either of them at a catch-weight. Canelo already said no to fighting Pacquiao at a catch-weight, and Cotto isn’t going to do it either.

Mayweather already tried to fight Pacquiao twice and had no luck in getting him in the ring. They didn’t agree in their negotiations in 2010, and then two years later, Pacquiao reportedly turned down a huge $40 million offer to fight Mayweather.

Pacquiao turned down the offer and made far less in his next fight in getting knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez.

“What l learned and heard from him, well, I realize why he is like that,” Pacquiao said. ”I understand sometimes when the people are not educated they just talk to talk.”

Is Pacquiao calling Mayweather uneducated? What brought that on? Mayweather isn’t even bothering to mention Pacquiao’s name. The only one that’s talking about wanting to fight is Pacquiao, but he already had his chance to fight Mayweather and it didn’t happen.

Mayweather already said what Pacquiao needs to do if he wants to fight him by leaving Top Rank when his contract was up. Pacquiao didn’t do that. Instead, he re-signed recently for two more years in a contract that will take him up to 2017. You can make an argument that it was Pacquiao that got in the way of the fight happening just now and before.
