Amir Khan: President of the “Who Needs Him” Club?

khan52By Rob Blakeman: News that Floyd Mayweather is possibly reluctant to fight Amir Khan is hardly a surprise for genuine and true connoisseurs of the game. Who would fight Khan? Would anyone fight him in a realistic attempt to further their career? Let’s look at the facts; Khan has been beaten (badly) by some boxers who were hardly household names. He has also beaten some boxers who were statistically far better than him, Zab Judah, Marcos Maidana, Luis Collazo, etc.

If Khan were to, by some incredible fluke, beat Mayweather, would any of us really and truly believe that he is a better boxer than Mayweather? OF COURSE NOT!! Khan has been flattened inside 90 seconds by a handpicked, C class Club fighter (Prescott) in a massive publicized show in which took place in his own backyard!

Khan was worn down, out punched and systematically took apart by relatively feather fisted Lamont Peterson (Who?) and hammered into the ground by the crude but effective Danny Garcia who can’t even spell ‘feint’ and practically telegraphs every single punch he throws-c’mon, accept it, khan is completely bogus. Every time Khan has lost he has had an excuse, wrong trainer, crooked officials, bent referee, and so on-he is not any kind of real sportsman.

If Floyd beats and knocks-out the glass chinned cry baby Khan everyone would cry, so what? This is only what we would expect of a great Champion like Floyd who has already beaten true boxing Hall Of Famers like Cotto, Corrales, Canelo, Hatton, De La Hoya, Castillo, etc, etc, etc. So, the fact is, Floyd truly, truly has nothing, literally nothing to gain by beating Amir Khan. We all would bet our house on Mayweather beating Khan. And yet, and yet, Khan does possess this lightening hand speed and throws very fast combinations that can rack up points, and, and if his notoriously dodgy whiskers can hold up against Floyd’s pot shotting, and, even more unlikely, if he can stagger, jelly-legged through the championship rounds to hear the final bell, he could, possibly beat Mayweather on the scorecards by landing more punches-but is that what any true boxing fan really wants? No. I would advise Floyd not to fight Khan because it is literally a no-win scenario! Floyd should finish his career by fighting his real and only recognized nemesis and a truly worthy challenger-The Pac Man. That was and is the only truly interesting fight worth watching. Two fearless warriors with great skills in a winner take all match!

Bring it on!!
