floyd888By Chris Williams: Tickets for the September 13th rematch between WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) will go on sale this Tuesday for their rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather is a current 8/1 favorite to beat Maidana, according to Bovada.lv.

Here is the prices for the Mayweather-Maidana 2 tickets. As you can see, they’re quite reasonable and well worth it. $1,600, $1,200, $850, $600 and $350.

The tickets will likely be sold fast, so boxing fans interested in seeing this fight should plan on trying to get them as quickly as possible before they sell out.

Mayweather beat Maidana two months ago in winning a 12 round majority decision on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. One just scored the fight 114-114, while the other two had Mayweather winning by the scores 116-112 and 117-111. I agree with the 117-111 score. Mayweather won a comfortable decision in negating Maidana’s best power shots by blocking most of them on his gloves and shoulders.

Mayweather didn’t have to give Maidana a rematch, because he could have made more money by moving on to face bigger names. But Mayweather wanted to keep his word to Maidana about giving him a rematch, and he also wanted to give fans an opportunity to see another great fight between them.

Their fight last May was one of the most exciting ones of Mayweather’s career, as he stood in the pocket for 12 rounds and beat Maidana in a toe-to-toe battle to make it more exciting for the fans. But for their rematch, Mayweather wants to use his boxing skills to show fans what he can do when he brings his A-game instead of his C-game to give a handicap to his lesser skilled opponents.

In other words, fans are going to get to see what Mayweather can do when he’s at 100 percent for a fight. We’ll likely see the same Mayweather that schooled Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, and that’s going to be fun to watch.

Mayweather will no doubt be showing no mercy this time in the fight, because he knows that some fans are under the impression that he’s lost a few steps due to the way he fought Maidana last time out. Mayweather is going to prove those fans wrong by showing what he can do when he takes out all the stops in his game.
