Andrade: I’m going to whip Brian Rose’s backside

andradeBy Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday night will be a special for WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (20-0, 13 KO’s), because it’ll be his first defense of his title against little known fighter Brian Rose (25-1-1, 7 KO’s), and the fight will televised in front of millions of American boxing fans on HBO from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Andrade, 26, doesn’t just want to beat Rose, he wants to work him over in a big way to show the fans that he doesn’t belong in the same ring with him. Andrade’s plan is to pound the 29-year-old Rose into submission.

“I’m a bad man. I’m going to whip his a**,” Andrade said in speaking about Rose. “He’s getting knocked out. Fans are going to see why none of the top guys want to fight me. I’m taking over.”

Andrade may be right about the guys not wanting to fight him, because they all seem to be avoiding this talented fighter like he’s got the plague. He’s an incredible fighter with excellent power, speed, and great boxing skills to go along with huge 6’1” frame. Andrade is able to dominate opponents with his jab alone, but he chooses to use the full package on his opposition in order to please his fans.

In his last fight he reduced a very good Vanes Martirosyan into a timid guy seemingly afraid to throw any punches in the last half of the fight due to Andrade having countered him so many times with big shots. Andrade basically taught Martirosyan that he was better off not throwing punches, and he turned into a lamb.

“I’ve seen clips of Rose,” Andrade said to Dan Rafael of ESPN. “He’s a straight up boxer. I won’t know too much more until I get in the ring with him. I do know I’m not going 12 rounds with this guy.”

Andrade should knock Rose out without any problems. Rose got what many boxing fans saw as a gift decision in his last fight against Javier Maciel last October in Sheffield, and he arguably shouldn’t be the one facing Andrade this Saturday night. It should be Maciel in the ring with him.
