Alex Ariza: “This is the Mayweather I Like A lot More“

floyd9999By Danny Ech: World Renowned strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza, the man who trained Marcos Maidana alongside Robert Garcia for Maidana’s strength and condition and nutrition for his upcoming match against number one pound for pound Floyd Mayweather had a few things to say post fight. Alex Ariza is probably most popular for his outstanding work and one of the “master minds “alongside trainer Freddie Roach behind the success of the Great Manny Pacquiao and his rise to the top of the sport.

Alex Ariza also worked with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. but after some time and a few fall outs Ariza no longer works with either fighter and has now been dedicated to Marcos Chino Maidana. Now that the Mayweather vs. Maidana epic event has come and gone and the dust has settled a little bit I was curious to see how both teams felt about the fight after all the Showtime All Access & ESPN cameras were gone.

First let me say I enjoyed the whole card I thought J Leon Love was about to lose and get stopped but came back and man was it bloody, Broner did NOT impress me at all and I’m still not convinced about Khan but he did knock the guy down 3 times but if Collazo had Thurman’s power what would have happened. Now on YouTube I subscribe to multiple boxing channels because I enjoy the sport of boxing above all other sports (personal choice) so I enjoy the fights but I also enjoy behind the scenes videos and personal videos fighters put out there in cyber space.

One channel that is one of my Favorites because he manages to get the scoop on everybody is ESNEWS by Elie Seckbach and he has been with the Maidana camp from the beginning of camp until now. Somehow Elie Seckbach has become a regular in Maidana camp and he has posted a number of videos on his channel of Maidana’s camp hours after the Mayweather fight back at their hotel room and it was interesting to see and hear what Alex Ariza had to say about the fight.

The first thing I noticed in the video was Ariza’s expression during the interview because Ariza worked the corner for Maidana during the whole fight against Mayweather and Maidana is his guy so personally I was just expecting tremendous excitement and smiles ear to ear and yelling from Ariza but maybe that’s just me. There were two moments where Ariza talks about Mayweather in particular that were interesting

Ariza said:

“In The Rematch there’s a lot of things I would do different but honestly you have to give Mayweather props I saw that there was a lot of action in there corner he (Mayweather) took some tremendous shots I mean really what Marcos hit him (Mayweather) with was something else and he (Mayweather) deserves a lot of credit and chose there to fight toe to toe with him (Maidana).“

“I’m telling you when you’re in the corner and you can see Floyd work you got to appreciate what he does man he (Mayweather) tried it he set traps he was “thinking” through the whole thing even when he (Mayweather) got hurt he was just functional he didn’t he didn’t run away dude I told you this is the Mayweather I like a lot more! “
