Pacquiao vs. Mayweather – Here we go again

mayweather232By Dan Henderson: After Manny Pacquiao’s win against WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley last Saturday night the whole Floyd Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny spectacle has surfaced once more and we can hear fans from both sides arguing back and forth about who’s scared and what not. Look, in my own personal opinion the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight lost its star factor back in around 2011 when it failed to take place, and for that reason I’m not particularly fussed about whether it happens or not.

Anyone that knows me knows I’m a Floyd fan, but I’m not an idiot because had the fight happened in ’09 then Pacquiao would have given Floyd hell even if I believe that Floyd would have still won; whereas if they fought today, in my opinion Floyd would win quite comfortably. That bugs me because I feel bad dismissing Pacquiao’s chances in such a blunt statement, but it is a matter of opinion because I know many of you believe Pacquiao would win.

I’m sure we’ll hear all the same old re-hashed insults, you know the ones with people saying that ‘Manny took something’ and ‘Floyd is scared.’ I just wonder if people can actually see what they write sometimes. Not all fans are the same but there a few ‘fans’ out there who spoil it. I’ll ask you all, have you ever been on a forum talking about the fight without some cretin writing a ridiculous statement about either fighter and spoiling the whole discussion. No, I didn’t think you had.

Touching on Pac’s victory over Bradley, if this whole Golden Boy vs. Top Rank BS carries on then who will be next for Manny because at this rate it will be Juan Manuel Marquez once again, and I couldn’t sit through the build up to that again between them for yet another fight. So maybe Pacquiao should leave Top Rank to help his own career not necessarily for a Floyd fight but it would open more opportunities with the other welterweights out there.
