Agnew, 27, is seen by a lot of fans as little more than a knockout waiting to happen.

Agnew doesn’t see himself as someone Kovalev will be able to chop down like his many other opponents, because he plans on staying out of the way of his big shots by focusing on boxing him and playing it smart. Whether Agnew can accomplish remains to be seen, but that’s what he believes he’s going to be doing on Saturday.

A lot of fans think the way to beat Kovalev is to take him deep into the fight and expose his stamina, because he’s not had to into the later rounds too many times during his career due to his opponents not lasting very long.

“I am ready to go out there and show the world what I am capable of. And show the naysayers what I am capable of. There are always going to be naysayers out there and people who overlook me. I say nothing to them and I will keep doing what I am doing. Saturday I need to fight smart and always be the smartest fighter in the ring. Come Saturday night I will earn mine.”

It was thought that this fight was going to be a warm-up for Kovalev to get ready for a big money bout against WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson for later this year, but those plans were dashed this week with the news that Stevenson had signed a contract with Showtime.

Stevenson, 36, will now be unavailable for a fight against Kovalev, and the only way the two of them can face each other is if Kovalev leaves HBO after his contract expires. It’s not likely that HBO will let him go if he continues to knock guys out the way he’s been doing.

The Kovalev-Agnew fight will be taking place at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. Agnew has decent power, but not the guy of power that will cause Kovalev a lot of problems. Agnew is going to have to try and out-box Kovalev to win this fight, because he’s not going to be able to knock him out.
