kessler6743By Nicklasleander: Kalle Sauerland, the promoter of 5-time super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-3, 35 KO’s), was interview by danish television following danish middleweight contender Patrick Nielsen’s (22-0, 11 KO’s) 2. round stoppage over 38-year old American Tony Jeter (16-4-1, 11 KO’s). Sauerland said that Kessler was yet to decide, whether he would fight again or not. They would, however, meet next week to decide the fate of Kessler, who too, was interviewed, but declined to answer questions about his future.

Kessler last fight was in may of last year, losing a thrilling unanimous decision to WBA/IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (32-2, 23 KO’s). A third fight against Froch was in the talks following the fight.

The 34-year old Kessler had a child with his girlfriend, Lea Hvidt, in December of last year. Earlier in his career, he had expressed, that once he had a child, he would hang up the gloves. Therefore one might assume, that if he is to fight again, he would only take the biggest money-fights against either Froch, super middleweight kingpin Andre Ward (27-0, 14 KO’s) or the winner of the rubber match between WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (46-3, 26 KO’s) and former 2 weight division world champion Arthur Abraham (38-4, 28 KO’s)

On last nights card at MusikTeatret in Albertslund, Denmark, middleweight contender and home crowd favorite Patrick Nielsen won an easy 2. round stoppage over fringe contender Tony Jeter. Jeter was knocked down from the very first jab Nielsen threw, and never recovery. Nielsen added another knockdown in the first round and stopped Jeter with a barrage of punches in the second round. Nielsen (ranked 5. WBA, 4. IBF, 3. WBO, 18. WBC) is rumored to face 2-time Olympian Juan Ubaldo Cabrera (20-o, 14 KO’s) in a fight, that Sauerland hopes becomes a eliminator for the WBC belt held by Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KO’s)

Other results on the card:

Micki Nielsen pts 10 Gogita Gorgiladze
Klara Svensson TKO 1 Veronika Hornyak
Tim-Robin Lihaug pts 6 Marko Benzon
Anthony Yigit pts 6 Ryan Fields
Abdul Khattab pts 6 Aleksei Tsatiasvili
Otto Walin TKO 4 Ladislav Kovarik
