Fury wants Deontay, Roy Jones Jr. and Chisora next year

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) will be back in training camp starting in February of 2014, and he’s targeting Deontay Wilder, Dereck Chisora, Big Daddy Lucas Browne and Roy Jones Jr. this next year. Obviously, Fury won’t be able to fight all of them, so my guess is the only dangerous of the bunch, Deontay Wilder, will be excluded while Fury goes after the soft targets. It’s kind of amusing that Fury is mentioning Roy Jones Jr’s name because Jones Jr. is about to turn 45 next month, and he hasn’t fought at heavyweight since 2003. So in other words, Fury is targeting an old guy who has fought only once in his entire career at heavyweight and that was against John Ruiz.

Somehow I’m not surprised that Fury is targeting someone like Jones Jr., because he fits in nicely with the kinds of opposition that Fury has been feasting on since he turned pro. I mean, there’s a total absence of quality when you look at Fury’s resume, and you just come away feeling disappointed at his resume filled with fluff.

Fury also said this on his twitter “Just got the nod that the next training camp will b in south of France Cannes. Starting on Jan 5 can’t wait! Ill be driving there 1200 mile. I want @dellboychisora in 2014. Also @BronzeBomber also @bigdaddybrowne1 also @RealRoyJonesJr! Can’t wait 2014!”

I hate to break this to all of you, but Fury already beat Chisora two years ago and exposed him as a limited fighter in that bout. Why is Fury interested in taking his career backwards to go over old ground? I’m trying to figure that one out, and all I can think of is he’s not really being seriously moved forward with his career. Fury had a chance to put himself in title position by facing Kubrat Pulev this year, but he declined the fight and ended up with nothing. Now Fury is targeting 45-year-old Roy Jones Jr., Chisora, and Big Daddy Browne. Again, I don’t see the dangerous Deontay surviving the cut and ending up as one of Fury’s opponents in 2014. No way do I see Deontay getting a shot at Fury, because he’s too good and Fury’s chin has already been exposed as being fragile when hit.
